OhioKAN (Ohio Kinship and Adoption Navigator) is here to help kinship and adoptive families. We offer assistance, resources, and guidance to navigate child welfare, adoption, and support services. Help for Harrison County residents over age 60 who struggle with the summer heat in their homes......
Summer Crisis Program runs July 1 - September 30.
Households with a member over the age of 60 and who are income-eligible can receive assistance in paying their electric bill, purchasing an air conditioner or fan, or making repairs to their central air conditioning unit through the Ohio Department of Development’s Home Energy Assistance Summer Crisis Program.
When applying, individuals need to have copies of the following documents:
• Most recent utility bills.
• A list of all household members (including birth dates and Social Security
numbers).
• Proof of income for the past 30 days for all household members (12 months for
certain income types).
• Proof of U.S. citizenship or legal residency for all household members.
• Proof of disability (if applicable).

The response to our 2024 Clothing for Kids program has been amazing! Just a few reminders:
- applications are available online at https://harrisoncountyjobandfamilyservices.com . These are automatically sent to us and begin being processed within 24 hours of receipt. (Attaching verification of income, when needed, to the online application speeds up our processing.)
- applications are also available on our public entrance door at the agency.
If you are applying with a paper application, please leave it in the dropbox to the left of our public entrance door. The dropbox is checked several times each day and your application will begin being processed as soon as it is removed from the dropbox.
There will be no early closure of the program for any reason. We are accepting applications through 4:00 pm on July 25. Once an application is approved, a voucher for Boscov's will be mailed to the address on the application. This voucher must be used by August 23, 2024.
Applications are available starting today for The 2024 Clothing for Kids program. We are accepting applications today, through July 25. They are available at our agency (on our public entrance door), or on our website (for online completion) at: https://harrisoncountyjobandfamilyservices.com .
Once eligibility is approved, shopping at Boscov's at the Ohio Valley Mall can occur through August 23, 2024.

We're excited about some big changes coming to our agency! As of July 1, 2024, all services related to employment will be handled by staff from our agency, in our new Workforce Unit. These services include WIOA (Adult and Dislocated Worker), our youth programs (CCMEP), SNAP Employment and Training, OWF work activities, and work related PRC services.
We've been working over the past few months to make this transition as easy as possible on the individuals currently being served. Our staff will be in touch with everyone already receiving services very soon.
In the next couple weeks, we'll be sharing more information on these changes. Stay tuned!
