Recently, Dr. Phuong Pham, our Director of Education at the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative, and esteemed Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School and Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, moderated a session at the 3rd Conference of Global Health Forum of the Boao Forum for Asia in Beijing.

The session, co-sponsored by International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies - IFRC titled " Universal Health Coverage-Community and People-Centered Health Responses to Deliver Impact, Resilience, and Sustainability,” featured a distinguished panel, including H.E. Danilo Türk, Mrs. Antonia Sarr, Prof. Zhou Xiaonong, Dr. Petra Khoury, Mr. Bei Xiaochao, and Ms. Ma Li.

The discussion focused on addressing the global shortage of health workers and the critical role of community health workers in bridging the gap to ensure essential health services for all. Dialogues like these are crucial as we continue to explore innovative approaches to enhance healthcare resilience and sustainability, especially in the face of growing global health challenges.
We are proud of Dr. Phuong Pham's contribution to this vital conversation and look forward to furthering our commitment to global health equity.

The case for greater academic engagement in the humanitarian sphere has never been more important. Humanitarian needs have reached unprecedented levels –

• 103 million people displaced, more than any time in history.
• 69 million people are on the brink of famine.
• 300 million people require humanitarian aid in 72 countries, a 63% increase in two years. Total aid budget over $46 billion.

In such a complex, dynamic climate, the need for evidence-based strategies, shared learning, and leadership development has never been greater.
