Like so many others, we had dreams of moving to Maine to finish raising our kids in a place that resonated with us for so many different reasons. In 1969 my parents bought a home on Youngtown Road in Lincolnville to escape the hustle and bustle for a few months each year. As a young girl I would sit on the side of the road in front of my summer house picking clover flowers and dreaming of a time w

Just a few finishing touches before this property changes hands on Monday. The glamorous side of real estate. 😉
A little confession: We don’t create all of our posts, our daughter creates a lot of them as well as our newsletters. By the way, if you’d like to receive our newsletters you can sign up, the link is in our bio. Anyway, back to the Fun Facts… Hannah creates them and we post them and write a blurb, like this! They are all interesting and we get to learn right along with you every Friday.
Not that we deal with commercial rental space too often but we are numbers geeks 🤓 so we are always paying attention…
There is NOTHING like a Maine summer. These Maine towns (and others) are bustling with activity all summer long but our favorite is Camden. Do you have a favorite Maine town? We’d love to know what it is!
The best way to buy a house in a low inventory market is to align yourself with a buyers agent. They will know how to navigate a tight market, have knowledge of listings that aren’t on the MLS yet and expertly advise you in a multiple offer situation so that your offer is the best it can be. A low inventory market can be a challenge for buyers but a good buyers agent can be your secret weapon.
Allison walked into our lives in 2020 with their husband, Patrick. They lived in NYC at the time and had dreams of moving to Maine as full-time residents. They bought a house in Camden and took a few years to figure out how to make Maine their home, which they did. They are now Mainers. We have become friends, the kind of friends who feel more like family, more like siblings. We love introducing and supporting new local businesses but this one is personal. .bark.events is the brainchild of an amazing human who has burst on the Camden scene. Go get ‘em Allison. We love you. ❤️ P.S. Allison is helping us coordinate our sons September wedding. 👰♀️
There is nothing fun about these tiny, potentially harmful, little jerks but here are some facts and tips.
photo shoot today! We had a whole lot of fun with at the Camden Amphitheater. The weather said clear skies but if you know Camden you know you’re bound to run into a wall of fog. The shoot moved from the amphitheater, to the harbor and back again (a few times) but what’s more beautiful than Camden in the summer? Not much. Stay tuned for new head shots and group photos of the best real estate team (if we do say so ourselves) from the best agency (there we go again) in Midcoast Maine. 📸
Summer is here and there are all sorts of fun things to do in Midcoast Maine! Here are just a few. Enjoy! ☀️☀️☀️
We have considered raising bees on our property. We have large gardens where we grow food and flowers so bees seem like a natural addition but we haven’t committed yet. We do grow plants to attract them though. There’s nothing sweeter than being in the garden and listening to the bees buzz away while they do their work that helps to sustain us all. Thank you bees. We love you. ❤️🐝

What’s your favorite thing about Rockport? Past or present. We’ll will go first, André the seal. ❤️🦭❤️
A post for the numbers geeks out there (we include ourselves in this group 🤓): For the fourth quarter of 2023, compared to 2022 New England had the highest house price gain in the country. The 2024 Q1 numbers were just released from the Federal Housing Finance Agency which show that New England has moved to the #2 position with an increase of 9.34%. The Middle Atlantic states had an increase of 9.93%. If you really want to dig into the numbers there is a link in our bio to the full report. If you have questions please reach out to us. We love talking about this stuff.
We find that with most things in life if you’re prepared properly you can anticipate and manage stress better. Selling your home can certainly be a stressful time but getting out in front of it can be helpful. Here are just a few tips to stay ahead of the stress.
There is something about Camden that is indescribable. Some people say they are “pulled” there like the earths magnetic field while others simply love its quaintness and the quintessential New England town feel. No matter what has brought you to Camden, we think you will agree that it’s pretty special. If you’re lucky enough to be spending Memorial Day weekend in Camden, enjoy. Happy Summer. 🌞
Our buyer clients closed on 10 Huse Street in Rockport last week after looking for The One for two years. There were three other offers but theirs was the one that was accepted. We crafted an offer that met the sellers needs without compromising our client’s needs and everyone was pleased with the end results. Wishing the happy homeowners many years of joy in their adorable new home. ❤️ 🏠❤️
Question for you: What is the best tip you ever got when either buying or selling a home? Second question: What tip do you wish you got before buying or selling a home?
Heading back to Maine after a quick get away to Brooklyn to celebrate Alex’s 40th high school reunion. Being “home” is always fun but being able to call Maine HOME is an always a gift. Thank you Brooklyn, we will always love you.
We have 7 chickens. We started out with 20 three years ago. We ordered them through the mail, picked up a loudly peeping box at the post office, put them in an appropriate container with the exact right heat lamps, food and water and nurtured them until it was warm enough for them to go live in the chicken palace Tommy built in our back yard. 6 of them went off to (we bought them together and raised them here until they were “teenagers”) and the rest stayed with us. Over the years we’ve lost some which is sad but it happens. They are funny, sweet, entertaining and they give us breakfast. They eat ticks, which is handy, and they bathe in dirt, which is messy and weird but we love them. ❤️ 🐓❤️
We are so pleased to be featuring this month. The Lambert’s became clients of ours during the pandemic, relocating to Maine to begin a new life and a much needed business. They impressed us with their determination and unwavering commitment to becoming contributing members of our community. With absolutely no hesitation, we have recommended them to assist our clients with their organizational needs. If you know us, you know we are super picky with who we recommend but we have 100% confidence in them. Please check out their website and give them a call.
We (sort of) snuck into the home show at the Augusta Civic Center today. One of the perks of Tommy’s previous business is we still have great connections and we get invited to do cool stuff like this. We like to keep up to date on building trends and new products so we can be a valuable resource for our clients who either build or do renovations. There are some really neat new building materials out there! Makes us want to do another renovation. 😉
Checked our mailbox in the Camden office first thing this morning and found 4 pieces of mail. One was junk, one was a postcard I mailed with no address (oops) and 2 were hand written notes. It brings us so much joy to receive actual letters in the mail. We send a lot of hand written notes, up to 20 a week of you can believe it! It’s a little project we started this year and we are loving it. Are you a note writer? If you’d like to receive a note in the mail, send us a DM and let us know. We’d love to send you one! 💌

Our Maine Story
Like so many others, we had dreams of moving to Maine to finish raising our kids in a place that resonated with us for so many different reasons.
I grew up in New York City. Tommy grew up in East Hampton. In 1969 my parents bought a home on Youngtown Road in Lincolnville to escape the hustle and bustle for a few months each year. As a young girl I would sit on the side of the road in front of my summer house picking clover flowers and dreaming of a time when I didn't have to leave on the last day of summer vacation. That dream came true in 2006 when we moved to Maine with our two children, Hannah and Jack who were 8 and 12 at the time. Maine today is much like The Hamptons were when Tommy was growing up in the 1970’s and ‘80’s, with miles and miles of farms and pristine beaches, before the McMansions took over much of the open space and traffic became unbearable. There is just a certain something about this place that’s hard to describe but when you feel it you just know.
We left Southampton, New York with new hopes for our life in Maine. We still pinch ourselves from time to time. We are as happy with the move today as we were the day we arrived. This areas natural beauty, vast array of recreational activities, diverse arts scene, excellent educational options and strong sense of community make Mid-coast Maine a wonderful place to live.
We look forward to the opportunity to assist you to sell your property or find the home of your dreams. Please call us, we are happy to help.
