From 1967 to 1996, Phil Donahue hosted almost 7,000 episodes of his signature talk show. Many would say that he pioneered the talk show format, although he was later surpassed by shows that focused on more 'tabloid' topics. He was 88 years old and is survived by his wife, Marlo Thomas, and numerous family members.
