****FAMILY HISTORY TIME****
The Ferraro family was an ordinary family until Concetta Ferraro began making bread in a stone brick oven Francesco (Frank) had built for her. Frank would take Concetta’s home made bread to the brick yard where he worked and sold it to his co workers for 8 cents a loaf. Not long after, it came to be too much for Frank to carry, so he got a horse and cart to take bread to work. This is when the Ferraro kids stepped up and helped their mom (Concetta) make bread. In 1899, sales began to grow so much that Frank built a small bakery at 104 Liberty St. He had a much larger industrial brick oven to bake with. This is where the Ferraro name spread all the way from Akron, Ohio to New Philadelphia, Ohio and was known for great homemade bread!

Skip forward to 1935, The Ferraro’s son, Louie Ferraro, delivered his first pizza to Pucci’s Pole Hall. He never expected to have his own pizza business stating, “no one but Italians will buy pizza.” Soon enough proving this statement wrong, word on Louie’s pizzas got out and he was selling more creating a new name for pizza all over Canton, Ohio.

Soon after Francesco Ferraro died, Louie went on to take over the family’s bakery and could no longer focus on his pizza business. Louie’s son Frank Ferraro (our current owner) began helping with the family business. He started by helping at the bakery at the age of 17. When it came time for Louie to retire, Frank bought the business at 20 years old from his father and wanted to expand their family’s business because they couldn’t compete with big manufacturers on bread prices anymore.

In 1987, Frank then opened Ferraro’s Family Restaurant & Bakery at 3822 Navarre Road S.W. Canton, Ohio 44706. This is when our menu first came to life. Frank added original family recipes and a long line of pastries to serve the Stark County area with delicious food including his fathers famous pizza!

Even though Covid has shortened our famous 24/7 hours to 6a-10p, 7 days a week we still strive to give our customers the best of the best and always doing it the “Ferraro way” - Always serving delicious food and good entertainment!
