The Santa Cruz Children's Museum of Discovery

Otter 841 is back in Santa Cruz! Hear her story: Amelia Otter's Mischief In The Water read by local author Luke McLelan

From the true story of Otter 841, comes a fun tale of a curious sea otter, who develops a habit of stealing surfboards and becomes a lovable outlaw!

Meet the Author

Lifelong Santa Cruz resident and surfer, Luke McLelan, a dedicated emergency department nurse and father of three young children, has always held a passion for writing. Recently, he took a bold step and self-published his debut children's book, Amelia Otter's Mischief In The Water. Inspired by his coastal upbringing and love for the ocean, Luke crafted a whimsical tale featuring Otter 841, a mischievous sea creature known for her surfboard "borrowing" habits. Believing this story would resonate most with young readers, Luke translated it into a vibrantly illustrated children's book. Luke is thrilled to share Otter's antics with the world!

Enjoy a FREE scoop of Mariannes Otter 841 Ice Cream!
