Congrats to CSUSM Athletics Cougars Women’s Softball!
Cougars Rack Up All-West Region Honors, Donnelly Named D2CCA West Region Player of the Year
As the No. 11 Cal State San Marcos softball team makes its West Regional debut, the Cougars will be celebrating the four All-West Region nods they received from the D2CAA and NFCA organizations, in addition to first baseman Paige Donnelly being named D2CCA All-West Region Player of the Year.

Donnelly is joined by pitcher/utility player Savannah Coyle and outfielder Bianca Gutierrez on the D2CCA and NFCA All-West Regional first team. Starting pitcher Jayline Sloss was named to the D2CCA and NFCA All-West Regional second team.

San Diego Padres star shortstop, Fernando Tatis Jr. broke his wrist in the off season. The injury is a major blow for the team and Tatis, arguably MLB's biggest star. Tatis, who signed a 14-year, $340-million contract extension last year with the Padres, also suffered a series of injuries to his left shoulder last year.

The undefeated Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team (12-0, 8-0 CCAA) continued its historic rise up the NCAA Division II national rankings as the Cougars moved to No. 4 in the NABC Top 25 Coaches Poll while coming in at No. 5 in the D2SIDA Top 25 National Media Poll on Tuesday.

CSUSM's break into the top five of the national rankings comes on the heels of defeating then-No. 4/5 and undefeated Chico State in overtime on Thursday night in Chico. With the victory, the Cougars took sole possession of first place in the CCAA standings and moved to No. 1 in the D2SIDA West Region Poll.

Off to its best start in program history, CSUSM joins Lubbock Christian (16-0) and Nova Southeastern (15-0) as the only undefeated teams remaining in Division II.
