There are several options to help with the cost of in-home care:

1. Medicare: Depending on your specific circumstances and medical needs, Medicare may cover some in-home healthcare services. You should check with your Medicare provider to see what is covered.

2. Medicaid: Medicaid offers assistance with healthcare costs for those with limited income and assets. Eligibility varies by state, so check with your local Medicaid office.

3. Veterans Benefits and Veteran Spouses: If you or your loved one is a veteran, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) may provide financial assistance for in-home care services.

4. Long-Term Care Insurance: If you have a long-term care insurance policy, it may cover in-home care. Review your policy to understand the extent of coverage.

5. Personal Savings and Assets: Some individuals and families use personal savings, investments, or the sale of assets to help cover the cost of in-home care.

6. Reverse Mortgage: If you own a home, a reverse mortgage might be an option to access funds to pay for care. Be sure to understand the terms and implications before pursuing this option.

7. State and Local Programs: Some states and local agencies offer programs to help with the cost of in-home care. These programs often have income and asset limitations.

8. Nonprofit Organizations: Some nonprofit organizations and charities may provide financial assistance or grants to help with in-home care expenses.

9. Consult a Financial Advisor: It's advisable to consult a financial advisor or eldercare specialist who can help you navigate the available options and create a financial plan tailored to your situation.

Remember that the availability and eligibility criteria for these options can vary widely, so it's essential to research and explore the options that best suit your specific circumstances and needs.

It’s okay to not be okay. Just don’t stay there. Help is possible. I have struggled with depression as early as I can remember. I have sought therapy and treatment since my college years. I continue to do so. There is no shame in needing help. I am not alone and neither are you!

VERIFIED WITH CITY AND COUNTY STAFF:

Call 310-830-7600 for City resources and 211 for County resources. The City is taking calls daily, weekends included from 7:00am to 6:00pm. When calling 211, press 4 for English, and then 1 for the Dominguez Channel. They are open 24/7.

The City is no longer placing new people into hotel rooms as they have depleted their allocated funds. But, they will still place you on the wait list and tell you to call 211 for help there.

The County is only providing hotel room with daily meal reimbursements right now and either free air purifiers or reimbursements for purchased air purifiers and filters.

For the County, toy have to fill out their online form. If you want to pick up a purifier, do a SEPARATE form and write down your tracking number and take it with you to Victoria Park 7am to 7:30pm.

If you are picking up a purifier, and you have a tracking number, you only need to fill out the receipt form and put the tracking number on top. You will get in the regular line and they will check you in once you get up front.

If you wait until you get a confirmation number, which comes in a second email but takes several days for them to process, you will not need to fill out an application either. You will only fill out the receipt form, but you will be allowed to go to the front of the express line and will be seen before the others waiting in the longer regular line.

Also for the County, if you want to get reimbursed for your hotel and/or meals (if you got relocated by the city you can only apply for meal reimbursements), be sure to include the name of the people in your house in box 3.

County reimbursements are $180/day for hotel, $66/day/person for meals, $400 in air purifiers and filters for houses under 1K sq ft (or 1 free unit at the park), and $800 in air purifiers and filters for houses over 1K sq ft (or 2 free units at the park).

County reimbursement eligibility is for purifier/filter purchases, meals while relocated, and hotel stays between October 4, 2021 through November 11, 2021. Receipts must be submitted to the county by November 30th. Instructions for submitting receipts will be in your confirmation email from the county (this will be a second email several days later, not the original tracking email that comes as soon as you apply).

Hope this helps…
