With the 4th of July right around the corner we tend to get several calls about dogs getting out, and owners frantically trying to find them. We ask that you make sure your dogs have their collars on, updated contact information on their licenses, or do something similar to the picture below !

A great opportunity!
Has your pet had kittens or puppies recently? Did you adopt a kitten or puppy recently? Are there suddenly lots of kittens or puppies showing up around your house or neighborhood? Have you heard the phrase, "It is easier to fix a few than a whole slew."?
The unnecessary litters will only continue to get worse. They will continue showing up. They will continue to overpopulate our area and our shelters if we do not take action before they are old enough to reproduce. It is much easier to rehome the litters if they are already spayed/neutered.
On April 29th, we are hosting a KITTEN/PUPPY PALOOZA! This will be similar to our Catapalooza event where we spay/neuter 100 cats, but will be completely focused on kittens and puppies. We will schedule 25 female kittens, 25 female puppies, and a total of 50 male kittens and puppies. The minimum age and weight requirement for surgery is 2 months and 2 pounds. At the time of surgery, the kitten or puppy should not be over the age of 6 months and puppies should not exceed 35 pounds.
Non-refundable deposit expectations will remain the same. $20 per female cats, $30 per male dogs, $40 per female dogs. That deposit comes off of your surgery invoice total. Male kittens do not require an appointment, nor a deposit. If you prefer to schedule them, we absolutely can! If you do not want to schedule them, they can come on any day that we are open for surgery from 9:30-10:30. To schedule, call 706-671-1104, option 4. In your voicemail, please mention that you are wanting to schedule for the kitten and puppy palooza. Our events usually fill up within days of our posts, so please do not hesitate to call and schedule! If financial assistance is needed, please reach out to your local rescues before contacting us to schedule!
This is so sad! Catsnip is the only group that comes to Bartow offering low-cost spaying and neutering for cats. For them to suffer this loss is devastating. They do so much good.

Pictured here is a WEEK’s supply of dog and cat food that will be handed out at the Red Door Food Pantry - just under 450 pounds. LAW volunteers bag the food in gallon size bags for distribution. Below is information on area low-cost options. Sadly Bartow County doesn't offer a low-cost option for dogs at this point but Catsnip (mobile unit) comes several times a month for cat surgeries.
We always encourage pet owners to contact their private vet to get information on their spay/neuter services.

Each year pets are dying in parked vehicles because they are left suffering from heat exhaustion. Many owners think that since they will only be gone for a few minutes, their pet will be fine; but this isn’t always the case. The temperature inside your car can rise 20 degrees in just ten minutes. The longer you leave them, the hotter it gets.
Simply put, it means the even on a day that doesn’t seem that hot to you, leaving your pets in a vehicle on their own puts them at serious ricks of illness and even death. Please leave your pets at home when you can, especially if there’s no chance that you’re going to be able to take them out of the car with you. This way, you can rest assured that they’ll be safe and happy waiting for your return.
This is what having your pet microchipped can do. What a wonderful reunion!
