Our Dr. Jill grew up in Pinckney, Michigan and spent her undergrade years training in Sport's Medicine at Northern Michigan University. She competed in Division Two Volleyball and secured a National Championship in 1995!

For years, she struggled with migraine headaches. A friend convinced her to go see his chiropractor. After which, her migraines began occurring farther and farther apart. This success led her to the calling of Chiropractor. She attended Palmer College of Chiropractic in Iowa and graduated Cum Laude.

Her first practice was in Vernon, Connecticut. Do you remember who else was in Connecticut? That's right, our Dr. Brian. When Dr. Brian decided to attend Life University here in Georgia, Dr. Jill sold her first practice of three years, moved to Georgia and opened another practice off Tennessee Street called, Pointe North Chiropractic. It was located across from our movie theater. Many of our current patients remember that location. Once Dr. Brian graduated and was ready to join her practice, they rebranded to the Kachinsky Family we all know and love today. Dr. Jill has been in practice for 22 years! To know her is to know it is her one true calling.

Dr. Jill is certified in the Webster Technique. The Webster technique is a chiropractic technique that aims to balance the pelvis and reduce tension in the sacral/pelvic region. It involves a specific analysis and adjustment of the sacrum, the bone at the base of the spine, and a soft tissue release of the associated muscle groups. The technique is gentle and safe and does not apply any direct stress to the baby. The goal of the technique is to promote optimal positioning of the baby and improve neurobiochemical function.

Her hobbies are listening to audiobooks, playing co****le, golfing, boating, and card games. Her favorite foods include sushi and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, and her preferred colors are pink and purple.

Our Dr. Brian was born in Middletown, Connecticut and spent his early working years as a firefighter/paramedic and then a registered cardiac nurse.

He discovered chiropractic care after a referral for an injury obtained while working as a firefighter.

It was Dr. Jill's (Dr. Brian's wife and our other chiropractor) vision of a husband/wife team operating a chiropractic clinic that led Dr. Brian to Life University here in Marietta Georgia. He wanted away from all that snow! In 2009 Dr. Brian graduated Summa Cum Laude and joined his wife at her chiropractic clinic here in Cartersville. They rebranded to Kachinsky Family Chiropractic and what you see today when you visit is a product of their perfect union! Dr. Brian's specialty is the neck and shoulder region.

Dr. Brian's hobbies are golfing, boating, and camping.

His favorite color is blue and his favorite food is steak!

At Kachinsky Family when you are in "Crisis Mode", similar to our patient in today's quote, we sometimes recommend being seen multiple times a week/day to assist the body's nervous system in restoring ease, bringing about healing. This internal healing being orchestrated by your Innate self, produces a body with no pain signals. A study published in Spine on April 1, 2013, found a spinal manipulation was significantly better than a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug Diclofenac and clinically superior to placebo for patients with acute low back pain.

When you're out of "Crisis Mode" and entered into "Maintenance Mode", like our patient in today's success story did, we recommended being seen once per week. A release by the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress (F4CP) cites a study showing that chiropractic treatment is not only more effective for helping people suffering from lower back problems but is also more affordable.

At Kachinsky Family we have FOUR different payment options for our patients to choose from. We are positive you will find a competitive local option cost for your care with us!

Most always the answer is ICE. Reducing inflammation is the way to go for your bones.

At Kachinsky Family we might recommended HEAT once a year to a patient in our office; there are situations where it is called for, but those situations are specific and few. In our Chiropractic world you're going to be told to ICE.

We recommend 20 minutes of cold ON followed by 40 minutes of cold OFF. Then repeat again if you have the time! You do NOT want to ice longer than 20 minutes without a break; more here is not better. If the area is too cold for too long the body will respond by sending more red blood cells to the area, increasing the inflammation NOT reducing the inflammation.

When heating an area, the body will respond by increasing the amount of red blood cells in that area. You might have some immediate relief; however, you have just prolonged your healing by maintaining the inflammation in the area. Some patients who heat (against our advice) report back to us that they are sore the next day. If you ICE it reduces the inflammation and will leave you without any soreness from the treatment.

Where should you place the ICE? That depends in each situation; it is not always where the pain is though. You should ICE where the inflammation is. For instance, if you are experiencing sciatic nerve pain on the right side, your ICE pack will still be placed on the low lumbar spine because the inflammation is on the lower spine, not the right butt check. It is always best to check with the Chiropractor to make sure your ICE placement is correct.

How many ice packs do you own?

"Asthma is a disease of diffuse airway inflammation caused by a variety of triggering stimuli resulting in partially or completely reversible bronchoconstriction". (Merck Manual)

Asthma is a bronchial tube disorder that is caused by an immune response to a variety of stimuli that causes airways to hyper react to its environmental input. Your Innate self wants to use your immune system to heal you not cause disfunction. When subluxations (misalignments in the spine) are present, they interfere with the nervous system communicating effectively with the immune system. When these subluxations are removed via an adjustment your Innate self can get back to work communicating effectively with your body therefore providing healing.

For some of our patients, that meant better breathing when exercising and the healing of asthma in another.

Give your body the chance to communicate with itself subluxation free. Here at Kachinsky Family we call that "Turning your power ON!"

Have you had a side effect of your power being "turned on" via an adjustment that surprised you?

Sciatica refers to pain that radiates along the path of the sciatic nerve, which branches from your lower back, through your hips and buttocks, and down each leg. In addition to pain, sciatica can also involve weakness, numbness, or a loss of motor control down the leg. Typically, sciatica only affects one side of your body, although both sides have been documented.

The sciatic nerve is the largest nerve in the body. It is actually comprised of fibers from several nerve roots exiting from many levels of the spine. At Kachinsky Family our chiropractors can assess which levels of the spine are mis-aligned and, along with your cooperation on your care plan, we have had much success getting our patient's sciatic nerves restored to health!

Do you have a sciatic success story from our office?

06/03/2024

At Kachinsky Family we take your cervical (neck) temperature, because similar to a sprain ankle, when your neck is misaligned, the joint will produce heat caused by irritation. This heat and the degree of the heat communicates to the Chiropractor where your neck might need adjusting.

The temperature degree (98.6, 99.0, 97.6, etc.) is not what we are looking at here. It is whether or not both sides of your neck are the same degree. Each person had a different temperature. What matters in this instance is that we want to see both sides read the same degree. When one side is hotter, it shows the Chiropractor that the joint is irritated and needs relief.

Have you had your cervical spine need adjusting lately? Did the Chiropractor use a manual (hands) or activator (tool) to complete your alignment?

School's Out! It's Summertime!!

If you have a Chiropractor preference, please make note of the evenings. During the summer months at Kachinsky Family while school is out our Chiropractors spend extra time with their children. We make this happen by having only one doctor in the office during the 3-6pm shift.

Please notice the change from usual hours on Wednesday the 12th; 9am-12pm ONLY and then closed Thursday the 13th - Saturday the 15th. Cameron has a travel ball tournament that week. We will have two morning shifts and two evening shifts to make your weekly adjustment possible before Dr. Jill will be on the field to watch the games and be with her family!

What are some fun things your family has planned this June?

05/22/2024

On Monday we talked about our Activator and when we might use that tool for your adjustment. (If you missed that post, go back and read it!) Today we are going to talk about the ArthroStim device.

The ArthroStim delivers a succession of rapidly-repeating thrusts. The power behind these thrusts can be adjusted by the chiropractor. The spring cushioned "stylus end" allows for maximum comfort to the patient, while delivering specific and direct movement to the spine where needed. The speed of this device can often be just the trick to get your muscles to relax long enough for an adjustment if there is some level of pain/discomfort when arriving to see us.

At Kachinsky Family we have patients who request the ArthroStim due to the muscle relief it can provide!

Have you had our ArthroStim used during one of your adjustments?

A manual adjustment/manipulation is the image most people bring to mind when they think of a chiropractor; the chiropractor using their hands and body to provide a force which moves the bone. There is another way.

The Activator is a chiropractic tool that uses SPEED (via springs in the device) instead of FORCE to move the bone. Chiropractors use this instrument to provide a quick, low-force impulse at specific points in the spine or extremities. The technique is an alternative to manual manipulation of the joints and is generally regarded as a softer chiropractic treatment approach. The concept is that the speed provided allows the bone to be moved before the muscles surrounding the joint contract.

At Kachinsky Family we have patients who prefer only the Activator instead of a manual adjustment. We have patients who prefer the Activator only on one area and manual on the other areas.

Have you used the Activator in your adjustment?

Our CA, Bridie, prefers the Activator over a manual manipulation.

It's Popcorn Friday! The young and young at heart enjoy a small cup of popcorn after their adjustment every Friday. It's a small celebration the weekend is here.

Whether you are working on a to-do list or enjoying some much-needed fun, you can face it with a well-adjusted spine.

Have you had your adjustment and popcorn today?

Recently, we had a mom of three young children in our office for their maintenance adjustments. She watched another patient receive an ear adjustment due to some upper respiratory issues. When it was her turn, she asked Dr. Jill if she too could receive an ear adjustment.

Read the quote below to see how it turned out for her.

05/13/2024

Dr. Godfrey Gutmann conducted a study on over 1,000 newborns shortly after birth. He discovered that more than 80% had subluxations in their cervical spinal region (neck).

Our brain communicates to the body's various systems via the nervous system. Our nerves function at their best when they have open pathways to communicate. Subluxations interfere with these pathways leaving a newborn communicating with less than 100%.

Being born is rough! A gentle adjustment at Kachinsky Family will remove any subluxations caused by birth and have your baby ready to grow and communicate at his/her fullest potential.

As children grow chiropractic care can help not only with the sprains from the rough and tumble of life, but also with some of the problems children face in their first years: colic, sleeping problems, feeding problems, frequent ear infections, asthma, hearing problems, walking on toes, and so much more!

Children who receive weekly/bi-weekly adjustments have fewer sick days than their peers without chiropractic care due to the way an adjustment empowers the nervous system to communicate with the immune system.

At Kachinsky Family we appreciate the parents who trust us with helping their children grow strong and healthy!
