When the COVID 19 pandemic hit India, it damaged livelihood of many people especially the vulnerable population who are on daily wages. From DBA we started a small initiative to help families in distress by providing the basic necessity like groceries, rice, flours and other food supplies. It started with 10 families near Trichy, and now so for we have reached 600 families who are migrant workers, people in refugee camps and tribal population and people living truly in grueling situation, especially in and around Chennai, Madurai, and Trichy. We want to thank all the people who contributed to our cause and most importantly people who are volunteering in the field. At this point I want to recognize so many kind hearted people who acted to make a change in our communities and didn’t want to give-up.

lock-down during corona virus impacted many especially for people living in refugee camps, last week, our volunteers got permission and arranged to hand over relief and food supplies to 100 families from Gummidipoondi Sri lankan tamil refugee camp. The needs are huge, and constrains are high, and restrictions to enter is limited. We want to thank people who supported us, ground volunteers Kumanan and Porkovan and their team, police and government staff for helping. Thank you all for sharing your blessing.

Disaster relief during covid19, especially during restricted access is unique challenge, it requires lot of organizing, getting permission from government for driving, and coordinate with local police station, and making sure the identified people get the relief on time, these are extraordinary challenge, our friends Porkovan and Kumanan along with team of volunteers whose relentless work and got this work done. From DBA I want to thank people who contributed for aid relief, and big thanks for on the field volunteers for their support… Let us share our blessing…

We have distributed food supplies to 55 families of migrant workers and families with no ration card(families who are not qualified for government support) in Chennai, especially before the 4 day lock down. It is a massive effort of organizing, getting permission from government, identifying the people, preparing the packets and distributing. We want to thank entire team of volunteers and people who donated for this cause.
Food packet for each family : Rice -10kg,lentils - 1 kg, Cooking Oil - 1lt,chapati flour – 2 kg, Tea packet – 1,Turmeric,,chilly powder, sambar powder and vegetables.

Teachers day is an unique day for teachers of children with special needs. These children with special needs may not even know ,that these teachers have a special day. But , this day gives an opportunity to parents to express their love, gratitude and appreciation of the noble work done by these teachers. For the past many years our parents organized teachers day celebration. For me, this gives me an opportunity to recognize the fact ,that our co-workers are working in harmony with parents and understand the truth, mother is the first teacher of our children. This photo is a clear testimony to the fact , together we can make a huge difference in the life of children with special needs. Happy and meaningful Teachers day wishes to all teachers.

Vinayaka sathurthi celebration at Holy Cross Service Society Trichy, organized with the kollukattai made by our mothers and grandmothers of Islam and celebrated together by all parents and children is the most important testimony of harmony and love of Indian culture. We are proud for the past 32 years our parents have demonstrated that human values are the prime need of harmony and caring and loving each other is the perfect way to support and supplement each other while facing challenges of this world.

On behalf of Different but able we want to thank dedicated volunteers who have been working strenuously for relief for Gaja cyclone, affected people in small villages in Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam,Vedaranyan and Pudukottai were reached in person and handover many relief items including tarp, food, flashlights and necessary utilities. In march we wrote about the need to treat Down Syndrome child as an individual and not as Mentally Re****ed. Let us share the story of Nowful , a Down Syndrome child who reached us at 9 months. We gave an individual intervention plan and today he is 5 years old. Has all the daily living skills, has an IQ of 90 and will be joining first grade with all skills. Students of IIM are now studying his success story and will be reporting soon. Thanks to DBA for supporting our cause. support DBA to help more children.

Inclusion is the right of Children with Disabilities. We promote inclusion with all the special needs met. Admission alone is not inclusion. Support DBA in our efforts to meet special needs of children with their special needs are supported through individual intervention plans.

Autism in India is seen mostly a condition of Intellectual Impairment. This is an unfortunate situation. DBA and it's Indian partner Holy Cross Sevice Society supports more than 80 children with autistic charecterestics below 6 years through Early Intervention and more than 80% of them reach first grade. This because , these children get total development support. Support DBA to reach more children in need.

Today is a special day to promote right of children with Down Syndrome. Let us take a pledge today, not to call these children as Mentally Re****ed. They are just Down Syndrome children and need to be supported for their needs.

Sample Unique Test for Your Opinion Matters.docx

Dear Parents,

Best Brainy Bunch is conducting a unique competitive test ‘Your Opinion Matters’ in October 2017 in Math and Writing, compatible to Wake Country school curriculum. It’s a competition for Elementary and Middle schoolers that is “life skills based” and not just academics oriented with a purpose to appreciate values around us.
In Writing - With thought provoking prompts, this competition will encourage them to kindle their little hearts to cogitate and scribe their view points at ease.

In Math – Problems and answers will be given, but the students are expected to show and explain the steps to arrive at the solution. The analytical thought process of the student is weighed more to assess the strength of critical thinking and reasoning skill.

The enrollment fee is $20 and it will be donated in its entirely to ‘Different but Able’ charity that takes care of several hundred disabled children in India. Please provide an opportunity to your children to have a non-traditional competitive experience that are life skills based.

Attached is the sample competitive test paper both in writing and math. The complexity varies depending on grade level.

Testing dates are:

October 7th & 8th from 10 am to 12 noon. Please confirm the time slot your child will be able to attend. Thanks.
