After careful consideration and planning, we have made the unfortunate decision to once again postpone our March Dinner Dance due to the unprecedented rise in Omicron cases. The truth is that our most important attendees of this event, are also our most vulnerable, and would not be able to attend. Our primary mission focuses on inclusion and advancement of the autistic community, and we just cannot move forward knowing that our loved ones are at risk – including you. It would be difficult for many of us to plan at this point in time and we understand individual apprehension as to what the future will hold. We are disappointed, yet hopeful, that we can continue our October 2022 timeline of gathering together as friends and truly share good times and real-life hugs!

It is worth noting that last year, despite our postponement, the Foundation awarded $85,000 in grants to deserving organizations thanks to your support! This year, we are in the middle of grant discussions and will continue our commitment to assist those organizations that can benefit from funding. Although we are not gathering in person – your good work goes on!

We cannot thank you enough for your support and understanding in making this difficult decision. The Irish 🍀Coffee mugs that had been ordered for our St. Patrick’s Day event will hopefully be filled to the brim by the time we meet again! Please continue to be safe and we look forward to seeing you this Fall. ❤️

Please contact us if you aren’t on our mailing list. May everyone have a safe and happy Thanksgiving holiday. 🦃

Thinking of each of you today ❤️💙🤍

This morning began with an email through our website from a volunteer at the 1995 Oklahoma City Murray bombing who met Jack while she was serving meals to rescue workers. She was a 17 year old girl and one evening Jack sat with her and helped her with her homework and spent some time talking with her.

25 years later she still remembers Jack and the kind and loving person he was. It is a beautiful reminder that every interaction we have is an opportunity to make an impact. Jack was so good at that.

We will never forget you Jack. ❤️

When you have a "regular" child, you feel reasonably assured that class participation and decent study habits will result in good grades. These kids have close friends. They get invited to participate in social things like dances and weekend gatherings. They make the teams, auditioned organizations and clubs.

But when you have a child with certain differences, this is often not the case. Learning may take longer, both academically and socially. Despite their tremendous efforts, results are often a fraction of their peers and social acceptance is fleeting, setting them up for painful comparisons and bitter frustration. Instead of a fun and fulfilling experience, school can become a breeding ground for depression and anxiety. It is exhausting for parent and child alike.

This is the week of SPED (Special Education), Autism, Dyslexia, and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) awareness. For all the children who struggle every day to succeed in a world that does not recognize their gifts and talents, and for those who are walking beside them, please let this be a gentle reminder to be kind and accepting of ALL people. Recognize that the "playing field" is not always a level surface. Children who learn differently are not weird. They are merely gifted in ways that our society does not value. Yet they want what everyone else wants: To be accepted.

❤️💙❤️🧡❤️💜

“Remember the hours after September 11th when we came together as one to answer the attack against our homeland. We drew strength when our firefighters ran upstairs and risked their lives so that others might live; when rescuers rushed into smoke and fire at the Pentagon; when the men and women of Flight 93 sacrificed themselves to save our nation’s Capitol; when flags were hanging from front porches all across America, and strangers became friends. It was the worst day we have ever seen, but it brought out the best in all of us.”

Never forget.
