Goodbyes are never easy and I’ve been dreading this one for some time now. Dr. Harada came to our practice straight out of Optometry school during the fall of 2020. It was during a time of chaos as the practice was trying to keep up with the ever changing COVID protocols while prepping for my maternity leave. Dr. H came with his chill personality, ready to work, and just took care of our patients.

He’s caring, he’s intelligent, a true foodie and way too good at random sports. He’s been the best colleague and partner I could have asked for these last three years. Thank you for the random conversations, listening to my theories, your clinical expertise, trying to teach me about investing and economics, and for caring for this practice as if it were your own.

Meet Dr. Harrison White! 👁️👁️

We first met co-managing dry eye patients together. His knowledge on dry eye research and protocols is extensive and has helped many of our patients already. In our initial discussions- it became very clear that our career and family goals aligned perfectly and he would be the perfect addition to our practice.

Swipe left to see how intricately tied the extraocular muscles are to the first two branches of the Trigeminal Nerve. The extraocular muscles control eye movement. If there is a slight degree of eye misalignment- those muscles are in constant motion to give you clear vision. The overuse of these muscles can lead to Trigeminal Nerve dysphoria. And if that giant cranial nerve in the back of your head isn't happy- neck pain, shoulder tension, and eye strain can be felt.

We wish we could hold onto people forever but life plans and moves are inevitable. Kale came to us from Arizona and while we knew it was temporary - we couldn’t help but share some good times, laugh at our full moon days, and really enjoy working together. Kale was hired as a technician and when our plans changed- he graciously trained for a new position and was thrown right in. He’s a quick learner, wonderful with patients, competitive, and naturally good at all sports. We’re going to miss you, Kale! Thank you for your hard work!

Fun fact- Dr. Kasper is a bit obsessed with house plants🤩 She used to have over 50 plants at home but since Levi decided he loves to uproot plants- some beauties had to find safekeeping at the office🌟

Scleral lenses can be life changing for patients with corneal dystrophies, complications after LASIK or RK, corneal traumas and dry eye.

An irregular cornea can lead to blurred vision, discomfort, light sensitivity and more. A scleral lens is a large diameter rigid gas permeable lens that’s filled with fluid. When it’s inserted onto the front surface- irregularities are filled in by the fluid and the lens gives a perfectly rounded surface for improved vision!

Magic? Or science? Patients feel like it’s magical with their improved vision but we’ll let you decide🌟

Some people are just so capable of their jobs and then elevate it by bringing joy, wit, and creativity with them every day. That’s Rachel for us❤️ Happiest of birthdays to her!

The best thing about private practice?

I know my patients.

I see them grow up, get married, celebrate 50 year anniversaries, have kids and grand kids. I truly get to know who they are. Yes, I’m here to
evaluate eye health and vision but we’re more than that. This is a practice built on people and relationships.

Who doesn’t have neck and shoulder tension nowadays? We probably blame our posture, the screens, holding our tension in the upper shoulders. What if we corrected your eye misalignment and reduced those symptoms? Imagine how your day would be!

Veterans hold a special place in our hearts. Dr. Kasper’s husband served 14 years in the Army. He started as a private in Ranger Regiment and ended his career as a Team Leader with the 3rd Special Forces Group at Ft. Bragg. Here are the Kaspers back 6 years ago!
