Rising Phoenix Therapeutic Community & Rescue Center

As part of National , in addition to sharing information on recovery from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration (SAMHSA), we'll also be sharing information on substance abuse issues that lead to incarceration for many people, as that is the population we here at Rising Phoenix Therapeutic Community & Rescue Center focus our efforts on.

According to information from the National Institute on Drug Abuse in their Criminal Justice DrugFacts, it is estimated that approximately 65% of the United States prison population has an active substance use disorder (SUD). Additionally, another 20% percent were under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of their crime. This makes substance abuse perhaps the most pervasive problem facing those in America's criminal justice system.

Who/what is Rising Phoenix? A substance abuse treatment opportunity for the formerly incarcerated. Your support helps those in our community transition back to society from incarceration in a pro-social and substance-free manner which in turn makes our community at large safer also.

This morning I found out that my committee members have approved my dissertation, so I'm ONE step closer (finally!) to being done with this journey. Every step counts!

Part of why TC is important - the community as method model works to increase accountability, and with increased accountability comes increased self-discipline!

My college roommate shared this, and I don't think I've ever seen anything that captures the spirit and essence of "therapeutic community" so perfectly!

Come get your exercise in before the afternoon showers! And don't forget to bring your running/walking pawtner. There will be dog treats on hand... ;)

Registration 8am, run/walk starts at 8:30
$20/person (kids 12-under free)
Oil and Gas Conservation off King Blvd just west of Three Crowns!

All signs point to the Rescue Fun Run 5k! Coming THIS Saturday, June 3, at 8am for registration! $20 registration fee unless you pay online ($15 before Saturday morning...) via Facebook. I'll have registration forms at check-in Saturday morning, or you can find it in the comments on the event post. We'll be set up in the parking lot at Oil and Gas Conservation off King Blvd, just west of Three Crowns Golf Club.

Here's hoping the rain holds out until AFTER our event! ;)
