The Raven Crest office will be closed on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 so that we may participate in the central Wyoming parade. We hope to see you there!

This year the Gardens seem to be taking a break... at least that's what we are telling ourselves. And honestly after so many prolific seasons of producing food maybe the gardens know what they're doing 😁

Some perennials are coming on strong, especially the Raspberries which will be ready to pick this week at both Raven Crest Apartments and Life Steps Campus community gardens.

There are also tomatoes nearly ready at Lifesteps and rosemary, chives, and rhubarb.

At Raven Crest the garlic scapes, mint, onions, chives, chamomile, lettuce, and some spinach need harvesting.

Our gardens have always been a project of CHA and through the years we have partnered with diverse and various community groups to plant and tend the gardens.

Seasons change. Varmints remain.

But the gardens, no matter how little or how much they produce, are provided to the Citizens of Casper free of charge by CHA.

Natrona County School District Summer Food Service Program for children. Meals are available at no charge to all children 18 years of age and younger at the below-listed sites. Meals will not be available for pick-up and must be consumed on-site.

Join us at the Urban Thistle Groundbreaking to see the vision of a collective group of leaders, who believe that food is a basic human right.

The former North Casper Elementary School site, located at 1014 Glenarm, has sat empty for nearly 10 years. It holds the promise of something incredible! It's emptiness speaks to the red tape and complications involved in making the community better.

This week the celebration of a decade long dream begins.

This Wednesday from 4-5 pm, a formal groundbreaking for this project, the Urban Thistle Farm & Market takes place.

Led by a group of committed individuals and bolstered by the support of the Casper Housing Authority and it's non-profit arm, CARES, the Urban Thistle Farm will be a center point for local food access, production, and sales.

The entire facility encompasses so much more than "just" a farm.

Come see the vision and become a part of systemic change for our community.

We have a BIG week in front of us.

With the warm weather and snow (Finally) behind us we will be planting the community garden at Raven Crest Apartments

Join us Tuesday evening from 4-6 pm.

Casper Housing Authority is hosting a FREE BBQ for all tenants and CHA staff will be on hand to help plant.

💦For all of you with your swimsuits and floaties on, cannonball season is starting June 3rd. So many great options for outdoor swimming and poolside enjoyment are just around the corner. So, tell your friends, grab your beach towel, and a little loose change for the vending machines, because summer is on! 💦
