Did you know that grounding, also known as earthing, can be a powerful tool in combating inflammation? Here are five ways it works its magic:
Reduction of Free Radicals: Grounding allows the body to absorb electrons from the Earth, which helps neutralize free radicals. These highly reactive molecules are linked to inflammation and various diseases.
Balancing Cortisol Levels: Grounding has been shown to help balance cortisol levels, the primary stress hormone. Elevated cortisol levels can contribute to inflammation, so keeping them in check is key for overall health.
Improved Sleep Quality: By syncing our body's circadian rhythms with the Earth's natural electromagnetic frequencies, grounding promotes better sleep. Quality sleep is crucial for reducing inflammation and promoting healing throughout the body.
Enhanced Immune Response: Grounding has been found to boost the activity of white blood cells, our body's frontline defenders against infection and inflammation. Strengthening the immune system can help prevent and reduce inflammation-related issues.
Stress Reduction: Stress is a major contributor to inflammation. Grounding has a calming effect on the nervous system, helping to reduce stress levels and, consequently, inflammation in the body.
Incorporating grounding practices into your daily routine, such as walking barefoot outdoors or using grounding mats indoors, can offer a natural and effective way to support your body's fight against inflammation. 🌱

Activate your intuition.✨️
Intuition is mercurial. It doesn’t come from your conscious mind and isn’t an analytical skill. You can’t develop intuition through research or throwing yourself hard at a goal. In stark contrast, intuition is typically more noticeable or resonant when you are still, take time to reflect, or engage in more passive activities.
Highly intuitive people generally feel they can pick up on their gut responses easily and are comfortable listening to them.

According to a recent study, forward head position and blood flow to the brain are clinically observable by taking the carotid pulses and can lead to debilitating symptoms within the brain.
The carotid pulses are weaker when the head is in a forward position; however, the carotid pulses are stronger when the head is over the spine.
When the head is forward over the spine, the brain may not receive sufficient blood flow and oxygen due to compression of the carotid arteries. If this compression is severe enough, it can result in cerebral ischemia (CNS dysfunction). Clinically, we see disturbed sleeping patterns, increased anxiety, and mental sluggishness.
The March 2000 Mayo Clinic reported that prolonged FHP also leads to “myospasm, disc herniations, arthritis, and pinched nerves.
Dr. Alf Breig, a Swedish neurosurgeon and Nobel Prize recipient, describes how the loss of a normal cervical lordotic curve creates dysfunction and disease.
Through cadaver studies, Dr. Breig demonstrated that neck flexion could stretch the spinal cord 5-7 cm causing tensioning of the meninges (covering of the brain and spinal cord) and elicit measurable pressure on brainstem nuclei (nerve control centers) which control all basic life functions. (Breig, Alf. Adverse Mechanical Tension in the Central Nervous System: An Analysis of Cause and Effect. 1978. Almqvuist & Wiksell International, Stockholm, Sweden. Pg. 177.)
New studies show that correction of cervical lordosis may be associated with an immediate increase in cerebral blood flow.

Our feet share a special connection with our body, they connect us with the ground, and we should pay special attention to how our feet are behaving if we want to perform at our best and stay injury-free.
The arches of your feet are one of the most jam-packed and complex anatomical structures in your body and help with many things:
• They allow for fine-tuned movements of the foot and toes in order to achieve stability and balance.
• They act like a ‘core’ to help support the arch and hold it in place when weight-bearing. This helps maintain balance and control and prevents the foot from unwanted collapse.
• They help the foot become stiff and rigid to create propulsion when walking, running, jumping, etc. They also help the foot become mobile/adaptable when needed.
Now with a pronated foot (collapsing medially), your hip (ipsilaterally) side moves down and anteriorly.
With a supinated foot ⤴️(moving externally), your weight shifts laterally, and you will feel pressure on the outside of your feet.
This leads to mechnical imbalances that affect everything above your ankle joint.
Improving foot proprioception is the first step to addressing a foot imbalance.
Therapeutic insoles are a great way to address poor foot posture by hacking your nervous system.
This is how they work: 1️⃣ mechanoreceptor (skin)> 2️⃣ thalamus > 3️⃣ sensory cortex > 4️⃣ motor cortex (movement)
Since the motor cortex is what ultimately controls your muscles, working with a product that feeds it 24/7 results in FAST and permanent changes in poor foot and body posture.

During a massage, various physiological responses occur within the body due to the physical manipulation of soft tissues. These responses can lead to the release or modulation of several chemicals and hormones in the body, contributing to the therapeutic effects of massage. Here are some key chemicals and hormones that are affected:
1. Endorphins: Often referred to as the body's natural painkillers, endorphins are neurotransmitters that help reduce pain and induce feelings of pleasure or euphoria. Massage can stimulate the release of endorphins, contributing to pain relief and a sense of well-being.
2. Serotonin: This neurotransmitter plays a role in mood regulation, and its levels can be positively influenced by massage. Increased serotonin levels can help reduce feelings of depression and anxiety.
3. Dopamine: Dopamine is another neurotransmitter associated with feelings of pleasure and satisfaction. Massage can increase dopamine levels, enhancing mood and promoting a sense of relaxation and contentment.
4. Cortisol: Cortisol is a hormone associated with stress. Research suggests that massage therapy can decrease cortisol levels, thereby reducing stress and its negative effects on the body.
5. Oxytocin: Known as the "cuddle hormone," oxytocin promotes feelings of bonding and relaxation. While research on oxytocin's increase due to massage is still developing, some studies suggest that touch and physical connection can stimulate its release.
6. Substance P: This neuropeptide is involved in the transmission of pain information to the brain. Massage may reduce levels of Substance P in the body, thereby alleviating pain.
It's important to note that the specific effects can vary depending on the type of massage, the duration, the technique used, and individual responses. The release of these chemicals contributes to the various therapeutic effects of massage, such as reducing stress and anxiety, alleviating pain, improving mood, and enhancing overall well-being. Research in this area continues to evolve, offering deeper insights into the complex interactions between massage therapy and biochemical responses in the body.
This is gonna sound strange, but I don't think anyone's had a chronic pain journey with hypermobility quite like I have.
✨ MY STORY ✨
This first part may sound a lot like yours. I had experienced pain every now and again throughout my life, but then one day...it seemed like the pain exploded.
And I mean EXPLODED.
Yes I had been hit by a semi truck the year before, but the way that chronic pain took over my life didn't make any sense.
I was going to the chiropractor, PT and massage. My back injury still wasn't healing. Then other pain points and injuries started popping up.
I quickly transitioned to trying to "move" more because that's what my PT told me to do…
I tried exercises upon exercises.
I used a foam roller.
And in all of this, I sometimes got relief that was temporary, and oftentimes things got quite a bit worse.
I’d reach out to new practitioners who seemed confident that they could help me. Sometimes I'd allow myself to get excited, but I quickly learned to stop and limit expectations.
Some practitioners just flat out told me it was stress or in my head. 💔
I finally realized that there was something going on that no one had told me. I have hypermobility. It is so much more common than people understand. And the pain relief industry is NOT designed to treat someone with this condition. (that's something I can talk about another day 😉 )
I was already a CPT, so I became a Corrective Exercise Specialist and created an entirely new system to finally be able to heal what was going on in my whole body.
I dug DEEP to be able to understand the intricacies of the hormonal, nutritional, mast cell, nervous system and musculoskeletal components of what was going on and built out a team of experts who could heal each root cause of pain that isn't responding to conventional practitioner ping pong.
I WISH that everyone who had chronic pain knew that a) hypermobility is a way more common and underdiagnosed root cause of chronic pain than people think and b) that pain, exhaustion and practitioner yo-yo is not the only way to live your life.
The heart breaking truth is that most people fall into 3 categories.
1 - They still don’t know that they have hypermobility that's causing their stubborn pain
2 - They know they have it, but can't find any practitioners/PTs who truly specialize in and understand it--medical trauma is common here
3 - They are going to a PT who understands it, but the pain's only healing 3/4 of the way and keeps coming back
Unfortunately 95% (or more) of the people that our team meets fall into these categories.
And before I understood what was happening in my body on a DEEPER level, I was was one of them.
I'm so passionate about sharing my story now.
Because there is so much more life to be lived once pain isn't holding you back or stopping you anymore.
And I can tell you that because I've lived it and see it lived out in our clients every. single. day.
I now PLAY with my kids...on the floor. Outside. At the zoo. On trips to the ocean.
I have the energy and physical capacity to give my ALL to excelling in my career, helping others heal, living out my mission. And I'm not constantly disrupted, limited or held back by pain.
I'm able to be a better partner to my spouse and mother to our children. I'm not constantly snapping at them because of pain. I'm not too fatigued to be the kind of person I want to be.
I lift weights, go on hikes, spend time outside, get to do the things that I love.
It doesn't mean that I don't have flares or that my life is perfect. I take gentle care of myself and listen to my body when it talks to me.
But when I have a flare, I know exactly what to do and my body RESPONDS. It is such an empowering feeling to finally have control over pain and not the other way around.
And so...I dedicate this post to you. If you're dealing with what I listed above. I see you.
I see how hard you've been working just to push through to be able to work, take care of others, live your dang life.
I see that you keep trying to exercise and improve this pain and get strong again, but sometimes it makes it worse.
I see what you've lost and what you're missing out on right now because of the pain that's stopping you/slowing you down.
I see how many appointments you've tried with all different types of practitioners, only to be left with pain that seems like it will never listen (and stay away) when you tell it to leave.
I see you if you've been told that it's "all in your head" or just stress. Like...that is absurd.
And I see that LIGHT and SHINE inside of you that might feel like it's grown dim, just because you've been pushing so hard for so long. You're tired.
It isn't gone, dear friend. It just needs space, time and the right support to come back brighter than before.
Even if you have the best PT or chiropractor in the world, if they don't truly understand the complexities of hypermobility or chronic (stubborn) pain, the solutions will only be short lived and will keep you stuck in a pain cycle to some extent.
And so today, I'm sending you the gentlest of hugs. And saying that I SEE you. And I am here to help EMPOWER you. Because you are capable of healing and living the life that you want.
Me and my team are here for you.
Gentle hugs and hope✨
