Exciting news! We have partnered with Downtown Celina and The Square and the Celina Chamber to launch the Shop Celina Passport program!

Starting this Small Business Saturday, November 25, until December 31, 2023, you can show your support for local businesses and enter for a chance to win a $500 gift card!

To participate, simply visit any of the participating Celina merchants and collect stamps on your Celina Passport.

Our CEDC board and staff members were recognized by the City of Celina Mayor and City Council earlier this week for receiving a Community Economic Development Award from the Texas Economic Development Council (TEDC).

The Community Economic Development Award program recognizes exceptional contributions of TEDC member cities toward the economic vitality of their communities and the state of Texas through creativity, leadership, and partnership in the achievement of business retention, business recruitment and community improvement.

It's official! Governor Greg Abbott announced that the City of Celina, having completed the multi-step training and certification process, has been designated as a Film Friendly Texas Community by the Texas Film Commission.

Melissa Thomas, Director of Marketing and Tourism for the CEDC, received the official recognition from Mayor Ryan Tubbs and North Texas Regional Representative from Texas Economic Development and Tourism, Janie Havel.

The City of Celina joins more than 175 Film Friendly Texas Communities from across the state that receive ongoing training and guidance from the Texas Film Commission on media industry standards, best practices, and how to effectively accommodate on-location filming activity in their community.

“Congratulations to the City of Celina on earning the Film Friendly Texas designation and joining more than 175 other Texas communities that have received this recognition,” said Governor Abbott. “Texas is brimming with promise, and I look forward to continuing to work alongside all of our communities to ensure they have the knowledge and tools needed to succeed. Through the Film Friendly Texas training and certification process, communities large and small are prepared to help match local businesses with production-related needs, creating jobs for Texas-based crew members and local residents, as well as spurring on-site spending at local businesses. I thank the Texas Film Commission for helping communities like Celina market their unique appeal and support local job creation through media production.”

For more than 50 years, the Texas Film Commission has helped grow local jobs and economies by promoting Texas as the premier destination for film, television, commercial, animation, visual effects, video game, and extended reality production. The Texas Film Commission in the Governor’s Office of Economic Development and Tourism has attracted more than $2 billion in local spending and created more than 183,000 production jobs across the state from 2007 to 2023.

MEDIA RELEASE: City of Celina Earns National Standard Designation by The Dallas Morning News

The City of Celina announced on Wednesday, November 8, that it has earned a National Standard designation in the Top Workplaces rankings by The Dallas Morning News.

Celina was the only government organization to be honored in the midsize category, which accounted for companies with 150 – 499 employees. Celina was one of two government organizations ranked among the 200 companies and organizations ranked by The Dallas Morning News.

“Our City of Celina staff’s unmatched dedication and tireless efforts in serving our residents have justifiably earned them this high acclaim, and I couldn’t be prouder,” said Celina Mayor Ryan Tubbs. “The ongoing recognitions they receive underscore their unified dedication to our motto, Life Connected.
