🌟 We had an amazing time hosting the Scottsbluff High School group, CHOICES, at our facility! 🌟

This year, we were especially excited to welcome back some familiar faces, as several students from the CHOICES group also served as junior counselors at our camp this summer! Their dedication and enthusiasm were truly inspiring.

During their visit, the group jumped into hands-on activities like gardening, laying tarp and mulch on our cabin trails, and pulling weeds. Their hard work not only improved our space but also highlighted their commitment to both our facility and their own growth.

A huge thank you to the CHOICES group for their continued support and for making a significant impact. We love having you here and can’t wait to see what next year will bring! 🌱💪

🌲 Exciting News from Norwesca Summer Survival Camp! 🌲

Mr. Dave, our amazing survival guide, has shared countless tips and tricks to thrive in the wilderness. Soon, our campers will be able to cook their own dinner on handmade camp stoves created from aluminum cans! 🥫🔥

Here's a sneak peek at how you can make your own camp stove at home:

1. Gather Materials: You'll need two empty aluminum cans, a marker, a ruler, a utility knife, and some sandpaper.

2. Prepare the Cans: Clean and dry the cans thoroughly. Using the marker and ruler, measure about 1 inch from the bottom of each can and mark a line around the circumference.

3. Cut the Cans: Carefully cut along the marked lines using the utility knife to remove the bottoms of the cans. These will form the base and the top of your stove.

4. Sand the Edges: Smooth the edges with sandpaper to prevent any sharp areas that could cause injury.

5. Create the Inner Wall: Cut a strip of aluminum from the leftover can pieces, about 1 inch wide and long enough to fit inside the base can with a little overlap. This will act as the inner wall to help distribute heat evenly.

6. Assemble the Stove: Place the strip inside the base can, creating a circular wall. Then, fit the top can piece over the base, pressing down gently until it sits securely.

7. Add Fuel Holes: Use the utility knife to poke several small holes around the top edge of the stove. These will allow air to flow and fuel to burn efficiently.

8. Fuel Up and Light: Pour a small amount of denatured alcohol into the stove, light it carefully, and place your cooking pot on top.

And there you have it – your very own camp stove! 🌟

From our backyard to yours, Happy Fourth of July!

Norwesca Campers were able to see the live action Wizard of Oz tonight. It was so incredible!

In the hills where the pine trees sway,
Lies a camp where we laugh and play,
Camp Norwesca, oh what a delight,
With stars that twinkle all through the night.

The sun peeks over morning’s crest,
Welcoming campers from east and west,
Where faith and fun blend in the air,
And friendships blossom everywhere.

A 200-foot slide, what a thrilling ride,
Slip and splash with glee and pride,
Zooming down with a joyous cheer,
Echoes of laughter, loud and clear.

Bible stories beneath the sky,
Crafts and songs that lift us high,
Hiking trails and evening fires,
Building dreams and hearts’ desires.

Chapel by the trees so still,
Where we find peace and God’s goodwill,
Prayers are whispered, hopes are shared,
In this haven, we’re truly cared.

From bug juice sips to s’mores delight,
Every moment feels just right,
Games and skits, and talent shows,
In this camp, our spirit grows.

So here’s to Camp Norwesca’s charm,
Where every heart is safe and warm,
A summer home where we belong,
Filled with love, faith, and song.
