Gypsie will be embracing Earth Day tomorrow in Downtown Chambersburg and participating in FandomFest as a “Yard Sale” vendor. I’ve been cleaning out vintage storage so no telling what you might find, but all will be great deals. Almost nothing over $10 and hoping to find new homes for all this treasure. Remember, buying vintage and pre-owned is good for the environment!

IceFest 2023! 🤯

Hey Gypsie friends. Apologies for not being on much these days, but the hope is to get back to travel and buying interesting things in Spring of 2023.

In the mean time, here are two finds that I had intended to post earlier. I know Christmas is close so if you haven’t finished your shopping one of these may be the perfect gift.

A pair of Original Tree of Life pendants from Route 5. One in sterling silver on a sterling silver box chain and the other in 14k gold on a delicate 14k rope chain. The pendants each measure just over 1/2” in length. The silver chain measures 18” and the gold chain measures 16”. Estate condition but still very nice, including the classic Route 5 gift box. A perfect gift or treat yourself! Comment “I want it!” with the one you want (or both, we don’t judge) and I will message you regarding payment and shipping or local pick up.

Hey Gypsie Fans! I know it’s been awhile, but this pandemic has really curtailed my adventure time. Hopefully more posts as we head into Spring. But here’s a little adventure I thought I would share. I bought this fantastic old travelers bag at an auction years ago and eventually it ended up in storage. It’s at least 100 years old, it has been all over the world, there’s something inside it, and it’s locked. Today, my lock pick friend (everyone needs one of those) is going to open it.

RARE PINK MUSHROOM ORNAMENTS TO BENEFIT CVBCA!

The Gypsie Elves were extra busy during the recent snow storm making more of our sold-out, spun cotton, Glückspilz Lucky Mushroom Ornaments. These are a hand made traditional German symbol of good fortune and blessings for the new year. And in that spirit, they made a very limited number of rare Pink Glückspilz for a very special purpose. The Pink Mushroom Ornaments are ONLY available in exchange for a donation of $20 or more to our friends at the Cumberland Valley Breast Care Alliance. We’ve only got 10 of these, and we’d love to use them raise a couple of hundred dollars for an amazing local organization. It’s a great cause and they make a wonderful gift.

Traditional handmade German Glückspilz are back at the Gypsie boutique inside the Garage Studios in Downtown Chambersburg. And after the year we’ve all had, who couldn’t use a little extra luck going into 2021?

German Christmas ornaments depicting the Amanita muscaria Mushroom with its white-spotted bright red cap. Amanita muscaria, a toadstool, is toxic - dangerously poisonous - and should never be eaten. But, it should be enjoyed on your Christmas tree.

In the German and other European cultures, the mushroom is seen as a good-luck symbol - Glückpilz (Lucky Mushroom - colloquial "Lucky Duck, Dog, Devil, etc.") - and is "The Mushroom" of Christmas and the New Year, especially as a symbol of a blessing at the turn of the New Year. It honors a reverence of nature and the beauty of the forest - if you find one it is believed to bring you good fortune. It is acknowledged to be the most recognized mushroom on earth.
