I met a man several years ago at a USO employment info event held for military spouses on Fort Campbell, KY.

He was a manager with Kroger's in the area to develop future opportunities for the brand based out of Cincinnati, Ohio.

The Gentleman and I shared our thoughts on the anticipated growth of the area, which included details also found within the Clarksville SMART GROWTH Plan 2030 that was presented in July 2010.

A large grocer with department store style shopping seemed a logical next step for the burgeoning corner of Montgomery County, TN.

The outcome of that brief conversation seemed to reverse course several months later when the withdrawal of Kroger's expansion on the corner of Tiny Town Rd & Needmore Rd was announced.

In the years since, we've seen a number of corporations come to the area, start ups have formed & other businesses have been shuttered.

We've also seen more than 60,000 additional residents settle, while the economy continually constricts & expands as we work off the 2040 Montgomery County Growth Plan.

Our hope is a great blend of people, progress & adaptable planning will continue to guide & support us all.
