A private, non-profit, charitable corporation for the furtherance of higher education in the State of West Virginia.
We are grateful for the life of service of Holmes Morrison who passed away on December 4, 2023. Holmes served on our board for 20 years, as well as the boards of several other service-minded organizations in West Virginia. "Holmes remains the model of community service here in West Virginia," said Bradley Maier Rowe, Chairman of the Foundation. "This fact was recognized with the Spirit of the Valley award for his broad and continuous efforts to improve our state. He has left an indelible mark on our organization as well as many others." We look forward to celebrating Holmes' life on April 6 at the University of Charleston.

Today marks our 65th anniversary and throughout this time, the Maier Foundation has proudly partnered with many institutions and organizations to further both higher education in the state of West Virginia and the education of West Virginia residents attending colleges and universities elsewhere. We would like to thank those who have dedicated their time, resources, and efforts to educate and make it possible for these students to gain a higher education. It would take up too much space to list people individually, but we at least wish to acknowledge our indebtedness and gratitude to the community at large, the state of West Virginia, and the colleges and universities who help provide the unforgettable experiences and academic opportunities to these deserving students. We salute our dedicated board members over the years who have served faithfully to execute the Foundation's mission. But ultimately, this work would not be possible without the aspiring students who demonstrate how investing in their education benefits all of us. Thank you!
The October 1 deadline for submitting grants for consideration of 2024 funding is quickly approaching. The Maier Foundation supports secondary education and select cultural causes in West Virginia. For more information or to download a grant request form, please go to our website.
Please note that due to IRS requirements we do not make grants directly to individuals.
