The West Virginia Library Commission and the West Virginia Center for the Book have announced the One Book One West Virginia selection for Black History Month 2022. The Watsons Go to Birmingham–1963 tells the story of the Watson family and how their everyday routines are changed after they visit their grandmother in Alabama in the summer of 1963.
The Watsons Go to Birmingham print copies are available through the West Virginia Library Commission's Book Discuss Group Collection. To schedule a collection for your group, contact the Book Discussion Group Coordinator by phone at (304) 558-2041. Just a reminder! The switch from Overdrive to Libby is just three weeks away. Download Libby and get started today!
If you read or listen to books through WV-READS, make sure to switch from the Overdrive app to the newer Libby app. Support for Overdrive will end on February 22. Libby comes from the same company, so all you'll need to do is 1) download the Libby app, 2) find your library in the list provided in the app, and 3) enter your WVLC library card barcode number. Then you should be all set!
The Library Commission will be closing at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 27, 2022. Normal hours will resume on Friday.

The Reading Room will be closed today, Friday, January 7th because of weather conditions. We will reopen for our normal hours on Tuesday, January 11th.
UPDATED TIMES FOR HOLIDAY CLOSURES: The Library Commission will close at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 23, 2021, for the state holiday and will reopen Monday, Dec. 27, 2021 for its normal hours. Offices and reading rooms will also close at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 30, 2021 and reopen with normal hours on Monday, Jan. 3, 2022.
Library Commission offices and the State Library Reading Room will close at 11:30 a.m., on Wednesday, Dec. 15. They will reopen for their normal hours on Thursday, Dec. 16.
