The industrial park is a long anticipated strategic plan of the county and NC Marine Industrial Park Authority. The beautiful location on the Perquimans River, with quick access to the Albemarle Sound, ICW, and Hwy 17, will be bringing tenants and jobs to the area very soon. Tug Miss Juli asssted Coleen Marine Inc with towing out the submarine USS Clamagore for its final patrol of Charleston Harbor on its way to Norfolk, VA to be recycled.

The USS Clamagore is a National Historic Landmark that was launched in 1945, decommissioned in 1975, and served as a museum ship at Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum since 1981.

SJ Hamill provides a Ship’s Salute to the USS Clamagore.

Primary Responsibilities:

Maintain and Repair Marine and Heavy Civil Contractor’s equipment fleet.
Manage preventative maintenance program for entire equipment fleet, including land-based, floating cranes, and other assets.
Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair lattice boom crawler (friction and/or hydraulic) cranes.
Diagnose and troubleshoot any malfunctions to equipment.
Perform routine maintenance, complete repairs, and test equipment as needed (i.e., hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical systems, and components).
Manage and maintain assigned tools and equipment.
Maintain and follow driving guidelines for assigned company vehicles.
Complete all paperwork thoroughly and in a timely fashion.
Understand and comply with all Safety and Environmental requirements.
Perform all other duties as required by the Supervisor within the physical constraints of the job.

Minimum Qualifications
Must be a journeyman level mechanic with a minimum of five (5) years of construction crane and heavy equipment repair and maintenance experience.
Five (5) years of crane and winch repair experience (Manitowoc and American repair experience desired).
Five (5) years of experience in engine repairs (Caterpillar, Cummins, John Deere, Detroit Diesel, etc.).
High School diploma or equivalent.
Preferred NCCCO certification, OSHA Certified Mobile Crane Inspector, OSHA Assembly/Disassembly Director certification.
Must have strong mechanical knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, uses, repair, and maintenance.
Must be able to use technical equipment manuals in either digital or paper format to troubleshoot, order parts and perform repairs.
Must have computer skills and experience with computer diagnostics of diesel and gas engines.
Knowledge of AC and DC electrical systems preferred.
Must have welding skills associated with equipment repairs.

The ideal candidate must work well with others, be reliable to work on a daily basis, willing to travel, and be willing to work in and around water with a strong understanding of concepts involving the construction of marine / heavy civil scopes of work including pile driving, concrete formwork and heavy lifts.

The ideal candidate must be able to manage crew to set rig and set piles (square and round concrete piles, steel pipe piles) in the proper location and drive them to grade using hydraulic, diesel, or vibratory hammers. The candidate may be required to work out of town or travel to project locations.

• Manage Pile Driving Crew
• Handle, attach, and remove rigging from piling, pile hammer, and hammer leads.
• Operates winches to align barge at proper location.
• Install and remove pile templates.
• Operate pile hammers.
• Signal cranes.
• Cut off piles at proper elevation
• Work from heights (pile drivers will typically be required to climb pile driving leads or work out of a manlift wearing fall protection)
• Rigging and signaling certification preferred
• Must have at least 1 year experience
• Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Valid drivers’ license and reliable transportation
• Able to work in all weather conditions and on marine vessels in water.
• Able to follow directions
• Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency

The ideal candidate must have experience operating various heavy equipment excavating, loading trucks, establishing grade and placing rock. The candidate will be required to work out of town and travel to project locations

• Must have experience operating Dozer, Excavator, Articulated Truck and/or Long Stick
• Knowledge of and ability to follow plans and grades
