Union County Christmas Bureau
The 2021 Union County Christmas Bureau is taking applications, Mon - Fri, 9 -3:30, October 4 through November 19
We are a week and a day away from our first distribution day!
We are going to need volunteers to help move bags of toys from one location to another, to help check our lists twice, set up for the big days, and to work on distribution days loading cars, moving food, directing traffic and more!
Those of you who use Cervis can find ways to volunteer by typing "Christmas Bureau" in the opportunity search bar at the top.
For those who don't use Cervis, you can call 704-622-6750 to sign up yourself or a group.
I am always amazed at the generosity of our public servants. Earlier yesterday morning several children had the privilege to "Shop With a Cop" thanks to our local law enforcement agencies and the Fraternal Order of Police. Later yesterday members of the Union County Sheriff's Office and the Hemby Bridge Fire Department dropped off all the toys you see in this picture!
Toys For Tots is looking to borrow a box truck for a big day of toy box pick ups! If you can help them, contact Bob Griffin at [email protected]
Shout-out of thanks to Baucom Services and McGee Brothers. They are the ones who either supply or move our trailers. Without them Christmas would be very different for families in Union County! Thank you for all you do to help us!
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
Sponsor gifts are coming in! Pictured are members of Weddington UMC bringing their red bags.
There is still time to sponsor a child or a family. Gifts are due to us by 12/13 for sponsored children and 12/15 (or later) for families.
We also are still in need of LED strip lights, diapers and wipes, clothing for all ages, new books, coloring books, teen items and infant toys. We also need non-perishable foods for our families and senior citizens
You can drop off donations of toys and clothes during regular business hours at our site for this year: 2520 W. Roosevelt Blvd, the former Habitat Restore location next to Griffin Motors.
Food donations can be made at the county's Human Services building, 2330 Concord Ave.
Are you looking for a way to make a difference during the holidays? Consider sponsoring a child or a family this Christmas! Email [email protected] or [email protected] for more information or to sign up.
Also, we are still in need of gift items for teens and infants, and clothing for all ages.
Thank you and have a Merry Christmas!
We need you! The Christmas Bureau is looking for donations of items for babies and teens- our two hardest groups to get gifts for.
For babies and infants we need light and sound toys, teething toys, diapers, floor gyms/play centers, board books and more!
For our teen ladies: makeup kits, perfume sets, fingernail kits, scented candles, blankets and throw pillows, jewelry making kits, hair care items, hair accessories and lotions
For our teen gentlemen: colognes, travel hygiene kits, sports decor.
For all teens: socks, headphones, earbuds, tablets, art & drawing sets, LED strip lights, watches, manga comics, graphic novels.
We can also use coloring books, crayons, colored pencils and and new clothing of any age.
This year we are located at 2520 W. Roosevelt Blvd, the old Habitat Restore site next to Griffin Motors.
Thank you for making Christmas possible for others.
Due to extremely high call volumes, there is a long list of calls and messages that still need to be processed. If you have already called and left your name and number, you do not need to continue calling. A volunteer will call you back by next week. Thank you.
Debido al volumen de llamadas extremadamente alto, existe una larga lista de llamadas y mensajes que aún deben procesarse. Si ya llamó y dejó su nombre y número, no necesita continuar llamando. Un voluntario le devolverá la llamada la próxima semana. Gracias.
Thank you to everyone who has signed up to help with the start of the Christmas Bureau season. October 2 is the day we start taking applications and we are already 50% filled on volunteer opportunities. But that means we still need people- especially in the afternoons and on Fridays. If you are interested in helping out please reach out to me at the email below. If you would like training on how to be a Gatekeeper or an Application Processor there will be two days of training next week- Tuesday 9/26 and Thursday 9/28. You can choose a morning session (10:00) or afternoon (2:00). Training should take no longer than an hour. If you are interested in attending, please email me at the address below.
If you have any other questions, you can email John Tompkins at ([email protected]).
If you have not signed up to be a volunteer you can go to www.unioncountync.gov Once there, click the tab marked Community and select Volunteer. Then, fill out the volunteer inquiry form!
Thank you!

The search is on! We need a place to receive, sort and distribute our Christmas donations this year. If you know of a property that would be available for about two months we want to hear from you. Ideally the location should be in or very near to Monroe, it should be more than 10,000 square feet, and it should be in a place where we can have a good, safe flow of traffic.
If you have a property in mind please email John Tompkins at [email protected]
A special thanks to Rick and Alex for stopping by with gifts from the Joe Maus Mazda team and the Joe Maus Foundation this week. It was great to have you share of your generosity with the families we are serving this year. Merry Christmas to all of you from us!
