A UVA tradition since 1992, Take it Away Sandwich Shop is home of the famous House Dressing! Our motto is Food Equals Care, and our sandwiches are made to order by team members who care about good food.

Our shop can get crowded at lunchtime, so call ahead to place an order. Or, if you prefer, just walk in, place your order, then grab some chips and a drink from our Coke Freestyle machine and start snacking while you wait! Your sandwich will be ready in a few short minutes.

We take pride in our short list of select ingredients, including homemade loaves of bread, Virginia meats, quality cheeses, and specialty toppings like arugula, Italian sundried tomatoes, and of course that famous House Dressing.

If the weather's nice, come sit on our patio, picnic on the Lawn at UVA, or even bring your lunch to a local winery for a lovely long afternoon. Don't forget to grab a bag of bread ends and a container House Dressing (yes, we sell it by the jar) for an easy snack at your desk or a late-night treat!
