It is with great sadness that I share that our sweet Ms Wilma lost her long battle with Alzheimer’s on Saturday 1/21/24. She was 82 years old and somewhat of a local legend as a life long resident of St Elmo.
It was our joy to take care of her between her home in St Elmo and then our home on Missionary Ridge for the past three weeks with the aid of home hospice. For those of us who knew her and cared for her, she was such a strong and independent woman, who hated asking for help except for the occasional ride to the store. It took a small focused group of loving individuals to work these past three years to keep her safe, housed, and healthy. We are thankful for each other’s patience and hearts for service.
When she asked me to take her to my house and be at her side, it was my honor. We loved Ms Wilma in all of her complexities and were able to step into her life when she most needed help in 2019 when we became her neighbors, truly a path made by the Lord.
“God bless you, I love you”. See you up in Heaven one day sweetheart.
Her memorial is planned for after services at noon on Sunday 2/11 12:30 pm at her church, with a commemorative walk up to her house immediately following.
We love hugging our little peanut!
Excited that we finally finished Ms. Wilma’s house for her. Her care plan is going well, Alzheimer’s really sucks, but this little lady is still smiling as we all adjust to a new norm.
After 35 months of work and support, Wilmas home has been finished and is ready for her to move in. City commission approved!!
It has taken 3 years, and our dreams of making Ms Wilma’s dream come true, happens this weekend as she returns to her repaired home. Her Alzheimer’s has progressed quite a lot, yet we aspire to work on care for her from her home for as long as possible. Thank you to this community for continuing to watch out for her. We still have a lot of work ahead of us to keep her as safe and content as possible with her limited income.
Taking Ms Wilma for her annual checkup, and she is doing well! We are looking for a room/studio apt to rent for Ms Wilma while her home continues to be evaluated for finishing the renovation (needs $40,000 in work now with demo completed). She has early stages of Alzheimer’s but is doing well. She has a 4lb chihuahua that is her best friend. She doesn’t need a kitchen, just a spot to put her microwave and hot water pot as she has meals on wheels delivered. Her budget is very small so looking for a Good Samaritan rental for up to one year while money is being raised for her house. She doesn’t qualify for any assisted care at this time because she is too healthy. Feel free to PM me.
Tree affecting Ms Wilmas foundation and roof is now removed! Major thank you to our volunteer of the month, George Ramirez landscaping and Tree removal, for donating their time to help cleanup the yard of Ms Wilma! Before and after pics!! Please call him for any property needs, he is a great worker! (423) 313-2554
Little outing at Walmart for a new TV remote. You may notice that Ms Wilma has lost quite a bit of weight. Sadly, she was recently diagnosed with Dementia and Alzheimer’s and her meds affect her weight. She has meals on wheels coming daily and eats plenty. Keep loving on this sweetie if you see her on her daily walks. Contact me directly if you have any concerns. This disease progresses at an unknown pace, and we are doing our best to help her stay independent for as long as she can. +1 404-751-8744
Celebrating 81 years old today for Ms Wilma!
Nice visit today with Ms Wilma. Praying for at least a $20,000 donation to finish rebuilding her house so she can move back in. We have finished the leveling, electric and plumbing, and need to finish the walls floors and ceilings but have no more money.
If anyone is interested, we can engage a non-profit for the donation write-off. Please contact me, she needs an angel to come forward, to be able to live there again!!
Left eye cataract surgery complete, way to go Ms. Wilma!! Now you have a matching set of better seeing eyes to get you through life!!
Out for a wellness walk, keeping her eye protected for the next week. String lady!
We still need minimum $5000 to finish her house with electrical and drywall, so please consider donating and writing it off for taxes.

Right eye surgery complete! Left eye in 2 weeks! This lady made everyone smile and feel love today at the surgical center. God just shines through her, we are so blessed to have her in our lives.
Taking Ms Wilma for her right eye to have cataract surgery today, so she is staying with us a few days before and after to make sure she follows the surgical rules. Prayers please!
It is hard to believe it has been 9 months of planning and slow work as volunteers to get Wilma’s house rebuild to this point. City inspections passed on what had been done so far: temporary electric pole in, walls to the lathe, fooors leveled. Ms Wilma just wants to be home and out of her temporary living, but we have at least 3 months of work, and desperately need donations to keep progress going. The 6th and hopefully final dumpster has arrived. If you feel moved to donate, please let me know or access the donation site.

Celebrated her 80th birthday this week!
Volunteers needed, any day…any time! Please messenger me.
Church on Sunday then lunch at Chili’s for the first time. The smile and sticky fingers are from the mini molten lava cake!
Well, work is starting inside Ms Wilma’s house to get her at least a working bathroom and a bedroom, where we will have a small fridge and cooktop for her. It is a lot of work for just the couple of us helping her out. Keeping her safe and re-homed since December has been a real struggle. Great news, her health is great! No diabetes for HBP since last year, clean MRI results, heathy brain and body. God is truly blessing this woman with good health, now we just need to restore her house! If anyone would like to donate construction materials, please PM we, we will take anything we can get.
So much love, God bless you all, she loves you. “Goodnight hon!!”
I am just so proud of this strong lady, so spiritually and physically sound! Just got back from Food City.
We are making steady progress to continue the clean out of her home. Are hoping in two weekends to start demo on the inside. Need to rebuild the basement foundation and all cross beams floor support, remove and replace all walls and ceilings redo all electrical and plumbing. Any volunteers? We could really use some more financial support!

So much he happened over the last month! We have learned:
1 we have so many generous and supportive neighbors in St Elmo Chattanooga!
2 how difficult it is to get things through CHZC
3 how much more help we will need to “rehabilitate” Wilmas home since we cannot just rebuild it.
Stay tuned!
We are putting up the “red sign” on her property today from CHZC!!
UPDATE: sign has arrived. Prayers welcomed!
Cute short hair cut for this beauty!
Attention St Elmo and greater Chattanooga neighbors: We are partnering with members of Silverdale St Elmo and several local craftsmen to help Ms. Wilma Walker to rebuild her home on Seneca. She will turn 80 this year, and has quite the story. Please checkout our page, and if so inclined, visit our Fundly site to be a donor. We are working with the Historic Zoning Commission, and hope to begin demo and reconstruction by end of April. She needs your help!
