One of our greatest pleasures is creating fun garments with Liberty fabrics. This delightful strappy sundress, available in three colorways and topped with a versatile crop jacket, has some unique dressmaking features - straps anchored with bullion-wrap flowers, matching embroidery on the bodice, and three rows of Petersham ribbon circling the skirt. Featured in sizes 2-4, 5-6, or 7-8, this versatile class, divided into two days, will feature embroidery first, then construction on Thursday and Friday, October 17 and 18, in Hampton, VA, at the 45th Annual SAGA Convention. A few spots are still available. Sign up today on our website. Link in comments.

What is Carrickmacross lace? It is a simple process of sandwiching netting and stitching around and on it. The stitches have intriguing names like couching, pops, twirls, guipure bars, and filling stitches. They are not complicated, but they can create this beautiful handkerchief corner. Applied by pin stitching to linen, it becomes the perfect commemorative gift for a special occasion. Ann describes it as "a beautiful and satisfying art."

Try your hand at a lacemaking technique that dates back to the time of Queen Victoria. It is being offered at the 45th Annual Convention of the Smocking Arts Guild of America; this class will be held on Saturday and Sunday, October 19 and 20. Other Carrickmacross options are also available. View the full brochure and register on our website. Link in comments.

Look at this beautiful ladies' lounge set! This soft, luxurious Swiss satin batiste pajama set is just the ticket if you're looking for creativity but no longer sewing for children. Dainty French lace edging trims the armholes and neckline, with satin ribbon run through lace beading to make the neckline adjustable. The elegant insert below the front neckline is made with dotted Swiss framed with mitered French lace insertion, and the hems of the pajama top and pants are trimmed in wide lace edging with miters at the top of the side slits. For those in our Artisan program, techniques include sewing lace to lace and lace to fabric, how to easily miter lace, shaping lace to curve around the neckline, and tiny French seams. Multiple size options included in the kit. Love it? Join us in Hampton, VA, at the 45th National Convention. This class will be held on Wednesday, October 16. You can sign up for it and other classes online. See comments for link.

Looking for weekend plans for this fall? How about a chance to learn some new skills or refine techniques?
The 45th Annual Convention of the Smocking Arts Guild of America will begin on October 15 and will continue through October 20. If you've always thought about attending and taking a class (or two or three...), now is the time! A few spaces are left in some of the weekend classes, so this is the perfect time to jump into the fun!
Held on Friday and Saturday, "Cotton Candy" is a pink satin batiste confection lesson in smocking to the shoulder.
