Mrs. Webb’s 2nd grade projects this week!
The “Luna Moth” project introduced the concept of symmetry using chalk pastels. Students followed a lesson in drawing a Luna Moth on black paper and then traced their drawing with white glue. Once the glue dried, students applied soft pastels and blended colors, still working to be symmetrical.
“Stormy Seas” project helped students put into practice three water color techniques. Using water color paper, students followed directions on how to draw a simple ship using black oil pastel. Then using wet-on-wet technique, dropped blue and green water colors onto the paper and blended and sprinkled with salt. Once the pieces were dry, students rubbed the salt off of their pieces and added foam onto waves and flecks of rain using white chalk.
We appreciate Ms. Kathleen Pacenti for working with the kindergarten – third grade students in art. She also works with our RTI program.
Congratulations to this week’s Whopping Acts of ROAR recipient!
Eighth grader, Colton, received recognition for his dedication and efforts to making improvements in his studies as well as personal growth as a student. We're proud of your accomplishments in the classroom, Colton!

BCA welcomes new PK2 teachers and maintenance staff!
Ms. Amy Molden (left) and Ms. Jonelle Appartaim have recently joined BCA to co-teach one of our PK2 classes. We're happy to have them on our Early Childhood Education teachers.
We also welcome Mr. Ty Adams to our maintenance staff! He has been working with Mr. Wayne over the past few weeks learning about the best ways to care for our campus. We will miss Mr. Wayne and appreciate all that he has done to keep our campus well-maintained, but we're glad to have Mr. Ty as a new addition to the BCA family!
A few examples of artwork from Mrs. Barber's 4th graders along with a Bible story collage. Beautiful work by these students! Thank you, Mrs. Barber, for allowing each student to show their individuality through art!
Ms. Sara’s PK4 has been reading special books this week - “Mouse Paint”, “Mouse Shapes” and “Mouse Count”. They’ve also had lots of fun mixing colors and creating new ones, making objects with shapes and learning more about counting. Their Bible story this week was about Jacob, and they made angels to go along with the lesson. Thank you to all of our pre-k teachers for making learning fun and engaging for our infants - PK4 kiddos!
Happy times in PK1 and PK2 this week!
Our PK1 kiddos had a special snack on their playground with Ms. Melody, along with enjoying the new playset they recently received!
PK2 students are learning to sit and listen to books while Ms. Jonelle reads to them.
We sadly say good-bye to these two amazing BCA staff members. Jacob Morkert (left), has been part of our after care and summer camp staff for four years. He recently graduated from UTC, and will begin a new full-time position soon. Wayne Teasley, our maintenance manager, is also leaving us to move on to a new chapter in his life. We appreciate the efforts both of these gentlemen have put into BCA to make our school amazing for our students and families. We send them off with blessings for their future endeavors!
Congratulations to this week’s Whopping Acts of ROAR recipient! Ms. Tori, first grade teacher, said this about one of her students – “Maddux is respectful, and he always listens and follows directions. He respects his classmates and his teachers, and is optimistic as he tackles any subject or problem with confidence. Maddux is accountable for his actions, even when an accident happens. I appreciate his being responsible as he does every task asked without hesitation, and is willing to help students daily. He is always prepared. Maddux is a loving, funny and kind student.” Way to go, Maddux! We're proud of you!
We appreciate a few of our middle school student council members for helping in Mrs. Randall’s third grade class today. They helped the students with a STEM lesson and posted their work to be displayed in the hallway.

An eventful chapel this morning with recognitions! Her teacher said she works hard in class and puts in her best effort every day! Thank you, Lucy, for your diligence!
Also, new this year -- Our 2nd graders received special Bibles that will help them better understand God’s word in their daily "Jesus Time" with Mrs. Webb.
We also presented new middle schooler, Savannah Clark, with her new Bible this week, as all new 5th - 8th graders receive a Bible as they start at BCA.
Next, we presented Ms. Jamie with a check of over $550 for the recent special chapel offering held in her honor to help her with recent medical expenses. She is a blessing to BCA, and we appreciate all who donated.
Finally, we are so happy to have Rev. Patrick Cox as a new addition to our rotation of pastors who serve in our weekly Wednesday chapels. He is the new pastor at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Hixson. He and his family moved here from Oregon to take on this new position and are glad to be part of the BCA family!
