Social Emotional Learning is an integral part of our Read to Lead Academy. In addition to academic growth, we focus on instilling important life skills and values. Our program emphasizes character development, social skills, empathy, and problem-solving, helping children build resilience and a strong sense of self. The Farm at The Beth is currently in full production and will be through the end of the season, utilizing our raised beds, inground growing space, and greenhouse to produce over 2,000 pounds of produce as of August 2024. Everything we grow is given away to our neighbors and friends, either through the food pantry, after-program giveaways, or weekly outdoor produce stands. Welcome Steve Dunn to The Bethlehem Center! Steve is our new Cheif Operating Officer. Steve brings with him over twenty years of leadership experience. He holds a Masters Degree in Psychology from the University of Phoenix and has been recognized for his tremendous work ethic and team-building abilities. He currently works as an adjunct professor in Psychology at Chattanooga State and coaches youth baseball in his spare time. Steve grew up in Fort Oglethorpe. His professional career, church community, and family life have all been rooted in this region.
Welcome Tina Vance to The Bethlehem Center! Tina is our new Director of Caminos. Tina brings with her over fifteen years of leadership experience. Tina is active in her community with multiple volunteer affiliations. She has a Masters of Public Health, Health Care Administration from East Tennessee State University. She has devoted 15 years to working with organizations that serve underprivileged and/or underserved individuals and families with 24/7 operations.

Throughout July, the Butterflies that attended summer camp participated in the "Legacy Project." The idea of this project is for middle schoolers who will be graduating from programming shortly to engage in a project that they will build/create something to leave behind and be remembered by. The Nehemiah Project โ Backpack Chattanoogaโ program is on a mission to bridge the educational gap and remove barriers that hinder students' academic success. We are committed to equipping children with backpacks filled with essential school supplies, fostering a sense of confidence, and inspiring a love for learning and love of the Lord.
Over 90,000 backpacks have been distributed to children in need since 2001. This is accomplished in partnership with area Title 1 schools, corporations, local churches, and non-profits. We miss all the fun we had over the summer, but we are so excited for our students to be back in school. Our Butterfly students had a field trip to Chester Frost over the summer and had a blast. Our Butterflies had a fantastic summer packed with so many fun activities! From swimming in Big Soddy Creek to working on the farm, we enjoyed every moment with them!
Our Jr. Eggs created rainbow paint chalk with corn starch, water, and food coloring! They had so much fun making the rainbow chalk and then getting to decorate our sidewalks!
