The 16U Cheektowaga Knights take 1st two games of pool play at Sports at the Beach in Delaware.

In the 1st game the Knights scored seven runs in the fourth inning, which helped them defeat the Upper Deck Titans 12-1. Joey Sapio drew a walk, scoring one run, Matthew tulshi singled, scoring one run, Ryan Patronaggio was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Landon Guzowski singled, scoring three runs, and Dominic Pasek hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.

A single by Pasek put Cheektowaga on the board in the top of the first.

The Knights added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after the Titans committed an error, Pasek singled, and Payton Sikorski hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.

Jeffrey Nawojski Jr earned the win for Cheektowaga. Nawojski allowed two hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out two and walking three.

Guzowski provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led the Knights with two runs batted in. The center fielder went 1-for-2 on the day. Pasek went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Cheektowaga in hits. Patronaggio led the Knights with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, piling up six walks for the game. Tulshi stole two bases.

In the second game the Knights defeated the PA Playmakers by a score of 12-6.

Cheektowaga was the first to get on the board in the first when Dominic Pasek singled, scoring one run.

A single by Victor Borowiak, and an error helped the Knights extend their early lead in the second.

In the bottom of the fourth, Cheektowaga broke up a tie when Landon Guzowski grounded out, scoring one run. Then a single by Pasek followed to extend the lead to 7-4.

The Knights scored five runs on three hits in the bottom of the fifth inning. Joey Sapio doubled, scoring two runs, Matthew tulshi hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.

Ryan Patronaggio earned the win for Cheektowaga. He surrendered three hits and two runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking none.

Pasek provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led the Knights with three runs batted in. The catcher went 2-for-3 on the day. Pasek, Guzowski, and Borowiak each collected two hits for Cheektowaga. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating seven walks for the game.

Two more games of pool play tomorrow include an 11am game against the Delmarva Aces and 1:30pm against Titus Baseball

The 16U Cheektowaga Knights Roll Past the Mel Ott Panthers 12-6

A double by Daniel Ball put the Knights on the board in the top of the first.

With the score 2-2 in the top of the third, Cheektowaga broke up the tie when multiple errors by the Panthers allowed the Knights to extend the lead to 5-2.

In the fourth Payton Sikorski singled scoring Adam Radka and Hayden Jozwiak.

In the fifth Dominik Pasek doubled. Joe Sapio pinch ran and stole 3rd and home. This was followed by a Jeff Nawojski single scoring Ball. Later in the inning Adam Radka’s sacrifice fly to center field scored Nawojski. Matt Weiglein stole second and third then scored on a Jozwiak ground out making the score 11-2. Mel Ott would put up a few runs late but it was not enough.

Ryan Patronaggio earned the win for the Knights. The starting pitcher gave up five hits and five runs (one earned) over four and one-third innings, striking out three. Landon Guzowski threw one and two-thirds innings of zero-run ball for Cheektowaga in relief. The reliever gave up zero hits, striking out four and walking none.

The Knights amassed 11 hits in the game. Dominic Pasek provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Cheektowaga with three runs batted in. The catcher went 2-for-4 on the day. Payton Sikorski went 3-for-3 at the plate with a triple to lead the Knights in hits. Victor Borowiak collected two hits for Cheektowaga in four at bats. Ball and Weiglein each stole multiple bases. The Knights stole a total of 10 bases.

Cheektowaga finished 2-1 in pool play and finished the #6 seed in the Cheektowaga Crabapple Tournament. They will play #3 seed Niagara Surge who gave the Knights their only loss in pool play. Game time Sunday at Noon at Beverly Hills Park. The winner takes on #2 seed Buffalo Bombers in the semifinals 3pm.

16U Cheektowaga Knights Take Lead And Never Look Back as they defeat the Lockport Lions 9-2 on Thursday.

The Knights got on the board in the top of the first inning after Matthew tulshi scored after tagging up, and Daniel Ball grounded out, each scoring one run.

Cheektowaga added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Ryan Patronaggio walked, and Landon Guzowski grounded out, each scoring one run.

Adam Radka led things off on the bump for the Knights. The starting pitcher gave up five hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out four and walking four.

Cheektowaga accumulated 12 hits in the game. Guzowski provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led the Knights with two runs batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 1-for-4 on the day. Jeffrey Nawojski Jr led the team with three hits in four at-bats. Ball, Patronaggio, and Matthew Weiglein each collected multiple hits for Cheektowaga. Patronaggio and Weiglein each stole multiple bases for the Knights. Cheektowaga ran wild on the base paths, amassing 10 stolen bases for the game.

The Knights continue pool play in the Cheektowaga Crabapple Tournament against the Mel Ott Panthers 16U on Saturday at 10am at Beverly Hills Park.

The 16U Cheektowaga Knights Storm Back To Defeat Buffalo Bombers

Despite trailing by as many as five runs, The Knights rallied to defeat the Buffalo Bombers 6-5 on Thursday night at Cheektowaga Central HS.

Buffalo got on the board first with a 5 run second inning. Cheektowaga would finally tally a run in the 4th when Jeff Nawojski Jr. hit a sac fly scoring Victor Borowiak.

With two outs in the top of the sixth, Matt Tulshi singled to center scoring Nawojski and Adam Radka, making the score 5-3.

Cheektowaga started the last inning with singles from Dominic Pasek, Danny Ball, and Borowiak, loading the bases. Nawojski walked scoring Pasek and Radka doubled scoring Ball and Borowiak giving the Knights the lead 6-5.

Nawojski then closed the door striking out the last batter to end the game.

Nawojski tossed three innings of shutout ball for Cheektowaga in relief. The reliever surrendered one hit, striking out four.

Nawojski Jr, Radka, and Tulshi each drove in two runs for the Knights. Ball went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Cheektowaga in hits.

Next up for the Knights is a game against the Niagara Surge on Tuesday to start the Cheektowaga Crabapple Tournament at Beverly Hills Park.

The 16U Cheektowaga Knights defeat top seed Thunderwolves Baseball in a wild game 12-11 at Veterans Park in Niagara Falls.

In the 1st Matt Tulshi singled then stole 2nd. After a Joe Sapio walk, Tulshi took 3rd. Sapio then stole 2nd and Tulshi scored when the pitcher balked. Dominik Pasek then doubled scoring Sapio. This was followed by a Landon Guzowski single that scored Pasek. After a Danny Ball walk and a run for Guzowski, Ball would eventually score on an error and the Knights were up 5-0 in the 1st.

The Thunderwolves fought back with 4 in the 1st. In the second Tulshi doubled then advanced to 3rd on a pass ball. Ryan Patronaggio grounded out to 1st scoring Tulshi. With two outs Pasek and Guzowski both singled. Ball then singled scoring Pasek making the score 7-4.

The Thunderwolves fought back with help of good hitting and bad defense and scored 6 runs over the next 4 to take the lead 10-7 with one inning to play.

Cheektowaga fought back. After a Matt Tulshi walk, Ryan Patronaggio doubled scoring Tulshi. After a Sapio walk, Pasek singled scoring Patronaggio. Then Guzowski singled scoring Sapio and Ball singled scoring Guzowski. He stole around to make the score 12-10.

Thunderwolves tried to claw back and scored a run but that would be all they got and the Knights advanced to Finals of the Upstate Showdown tournament. Pasek went 4-4 with 2RBI’s in the game. Patronaggio, Pasek, Guzowski, and Ball all had 2 RBI’s

Unfortunately the 3rd game of the day proved to be too much as the Knights lost the championship game to the #2 seed East Coast Pipeline 8-1.

Cheektowaga is back in action vs. the Buffalo Bombers on Thursday at Cheektowaga Central High School at 6pm

The 16U Cheektowaga Knights defeat the Whitby Canadians 2-1 in extra innings.

Joe Sapio threw a complete game going 8 innings allowing one run and striking out 7.

Cheektowaga took the lead in the 4th inning when Landon Guzowski stole home to make it 1-0.

Whitby tied it up in the 5th. The game went into extra innings. In the 8th Matt Tulshi singled then advanced to 2nd on an overthrow. With 2 outs Joe Sapio singled to center scoring Tulshi. Sapio closed out the 8th to win the game and advance to the semifinals of the Upstate Showdown Tournament.

After a tough loss on Friday, the 16U Cheektowaga Knights take two games in pool play for the Upstate Showdown tournament on Saturday.

The early game saw the Knights fall behind the
Hamburg Dawgs 3-0 in the first.

Cheektowaga got on the board in the 4th when Danny Ball grounded out scoring Joe Sapio who stole 2nd and 3rd.

In the 5th Jeffery Nawojski Jr. single and Adam Radka walked. Matthew Tulshi doubled scoring Nawojski. Ryan Patronaggio grounded out scoring Radka. Sapio singled scoring Tulshi which put the Knights up 4-3.

In the 6th the Knights were walked twice and beaned twice scoring Ball. Radka then singled scoring Vic Borowiak. After another walk and hit batter the score was now 8-3.

Jeffrey Nawojski Jr pitched a complete game giving up five hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out seven.

Nawojski Jr, Radka, Sapio, and Tulshi each collected one hit for Cheektowaga. Sapio and Tulshi each drove in two runs for the Knights. Sapio stole three bases.

In the second game Dominic Pasek went 3 for 3 with 2 RBI’s as The Cheektowaga Knights defeated the Lancaster Devils 12-1

The Knights got on the board in the top of the first inning after Pasek singled, Landon Guzowski hit into a fielder's choice, Daniel Ball grounded out, and Victor Borowiak singled, each scoring one run.

Cheektowaga added one run in the second after Ryan Patronaggio singled.

Patronaggio earned the win for the Knights giving up four hits and one run over six innings, striking out six and walking five.

The Knights piled up 12 hits in the game. Guzowski drove the middle of the lineup, leading Cheektowaga with three runs batted in and a triple. Jeffrey Nawojski Jr and Patronaggio each collected multiple hits for the Knights. Patronaggio and Matthew tulshi each stole multiple bases for Cheektowaga. The Knights ran wild on the base paths, tallying nine stolen bases for the game.

Cheektowaga is the 5 seed and will play the 4 seed Whitby Canadiens at 9am at Veterans Park at Niagara Falls

The Cheektowaga Knights 16U team defeated Lugnuts Baseball 7-1 at Cheektowaga Central High School on Monday night.

Joey Sapio earned the win for The Knights allowing only four hits and one run over seven innings, striking out nine.

The game was scoreless in the bottom of the third with two outs when Casey Horbach doubled and stole third. Ryan Patronaggio singled scoring Horbach.

In the fourth Matt Tulshi singled. Then with two outs Danny Ball tripled scoring Tulshi. This was followed by a Jeff Nawojski Jr. single scoring Ball.

In the fifth, Joe Sapio singled scoring Horbach. Sapio stole second and third. Sapio then scored on a throwing error on the throw to 3rd.

In the sixth, Adam Radka and Danny Ball singled and Nawojski walked loading the bases. Radka and Ball both scored on a Matt Weiglein sacrifice bunt which made the score 7-1.

In the 7th, Sapio struck out 2 of the last three batters to seal the victory.

The Knights amassed 12 hits in the game. Casey Horbach, Daniel Ball, and Matthew Tulshi each collected two hits for Cheektowaga. Matthew Weiglein led the team with two runs batted in. All but one player had at least one hit in the game.

The Knights play again after the 4th of July holiday. Saturday 7/6 at 11am against Hamburg and Sunday 7/7 at 10am against Academy Stars. Both games are at Beverly Hills in Cheektowaga.

The Cheektowaga Knights 14U were victorious against Niagara Jr. Purple Eagles 14U 11-7 on Thursday at Washuta Park.

The Cheektowaga Knights 14U were the first to get on the board in the first when Paul Wiech singled, scoring two runs.

The Cheektowaga Knights 14U added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Trevor Ehrle singled, Luke Nowak grounded out, and the Cheektowaga Knights 14U scored on a passed ball, each scoring one run.

A passed ball extended the The Cheektowaga Knights 14U lead to 6-0 in the top of the third inning.

Nowak earned the win for the Cheektowaga Knights 14U. The righty surrendered seven hits and seven runs (three earned) over six innings, striking out six and walking five.

Nowak led the Cheektowaga Knights 14U with two runs batted in. The left-handed hitter went 1-for-4 on the day. Wiech went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Cheektowaga Knights 14U in hits.

The Cheektowaga Knights 14U had patience at the plate, accumulating 10 walks for the game. Harrison Illig and Ashton Hudson led the team with three free passes each. Hudson stole three bases. The Cheektowaga Knights 14U stole six bases in the game.

The Cheektowaga Knights 14U will travel to 14U Jamestown for their next game on Saturday.

Ryan Patronaggio and Adam Radka propel The Cheektowaga Knights 16U team past the Tri-City Giants

Ryan Patronaggio drove in four runs on three hits to lead Knights past The Giants 12-1 on Saturday.

In the 1st inning, Patronaggio singled and advanced on a pass ball. With two outs, Dominic Pasek single scoring Patronaggio from second.

In the second the Knights put up 3. Danny Ball singled then Jeff Nawojski Jr. singled. Ball scored on a Matt Weiglein sac bunt. Casey Horbach was hit by pitch. Patronaggio then hit a double scoring Vic Borowiak, and Horbach.

After two scoreless innings the Knights pored it on in the 5th. Joe Sapio walked then stole 2nd. Pasek then doubled scoring Sapio. After a Matt Tulshi single and an Adam Radka walk loaded the bases, Ball doubled scoring Pasek and Tulshi. After Nawojski walked, loading the bases, Borowiak was hit by pitch scoring Radka. Weiglein singled scoring Ball. Horbach walked scoring Nawojski. Then Patronaggio doubled again scoring Borowiak and Weiglein to end the game in mercy.

Adam Radka was lights out on the mound. Radka went 5 innings allowing just one run on 3 hits striking out 10.

Cheektowaga went 2-1 in pool play for #6 seed out of 16. They play the #7 seed GLOW Academy Futures team in bracket play at 9am Sunday at Sheridan Park in Tonawanda.

The Cheektowaga Knights Roll Past Academy Stars 13-3 to open the Battle at the Falls 16U tournament in Sanborn, NY

Cheektowaga flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the second, scoring five runs on four hits to take a 6-3 lead. Vic Borowiak singled then Matt Weiglein was hit by pitch. With two outs Ryan Patronaggio walked loading the bases. Joe Sapio singled scoring Borowiak. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Dominic Pasek on an 0-2 count that drove in Weiglein and Patronaggio. That was followed with a double by Matt Tulshi scoring Sapio and Pasek.

Joey Sapio stepped on the hill first for the Knights. The starting pitcher allowed three runs over four and one-third innings, striking out four.

Cheektowaga added 3 more in the 4th. After a Casey Horbach single and Patronaggio double, Sapio singled scoring Horbach. This was followed by a Pasek single scoring Patronaggio and Sapio.

Adam Radka came in relief pitching two thirds allowing one hit and striking out one.

The Knights finished off the Stars with a four run 5th. Jeff Nawojski Jr. led off with a double. Borowiak singled then advanced to second on error which also scored Nawojski. After a Weiglein single, Horbach hit a triple clearing the bases. Patronaggio then grounded out scoring Horbach ending the game.

Cheektowaga collected 14 hits in the game. Pasek drove the middle of the lineup, leading The Knights with four runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Pasek, Horbach, Borowiak, Sapio, and Patronaggio each collected two hits for Cheektowaga.

The Knights will travel back to Sanborn for the second game of the tournament against All In Sports at 4pm on Friday.

The 16U Cheektowaga Knights Defeat The Niagara Surge Behind Strong Performance From Jeffrey Nawojski Jr

Nawojski Jr went 5 innings striking out 11 batters and allowing 3 runs as The Knights topped the Surge 9-5 on Tuesday at Washuta Park in Lewiston.

Cheektowaga got on the board in the top of the first inning. Casey Horbach was hit by pitch, stole 2nd, stole 3rd, then scored on a 3rd strike that passed the catcher allowing Joe Sapio to 1st. Sapio then steals 2nd and 3rd and scores on another pass ball.

The Knights added to their early lead in the top of the second inning. Matt Weiglein singled to right then stole second. Then Adam Radka singled with 2 outs , scoring Weiglein from second. After Hayden Jozwiak walked and a wild pitch advanced him to second and Radka to 3rd, Horbach doubled off the fence scoring both Radka and Jozwiak.

Cheektowaga added 3 more in the 3rd. Horbach scored on a wild pitch, Sapio scored on a sac fly by Nawojski, and Dominic Pasek scored on a Danny Ball single to put the Knights up 8-2.

Landon Guzowski came in relief allowing one earned and striking out 2.

Radka and Horbach each collected two hits for The Knights. Horbach went 2-for-3 at the plate as the leadoff hitter and led the team with three runs batted in. Dominic Pasek led Cheektowaga with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating eight walks for the game. Horbach, Radka, and Sapio each stole multiple bases for the Knights. Cheektowaga had 15 stolen bases in the game.

Next up for The Knights is a game at Thunderwolves Baseball on Saturday at noon in Tonawanda.

The 16U Cheektowaga Knights were triumphant over LG Blue 11-8 on Saturday at Beverly Hills to move to 1-1 on the season.

Cheektowaga took the lead in the bottom of the second inning after Matthew Tulshi singled scoring Joe Sapio and Hayden Jozwiak singled scoring Tulshi.

In the 3rd inning the Knights went up 5-2. Ryan Patronaggio scored on a sac fly by Jeff Nawojski Jr, Joey Sapio tripled scoring Dominic Pasek, and Victor Borowiak singled scoring Sapio.

Cheektowaga struggled on defense with multiple errors which allowed LG to tie the game up for the second time in the fourth inning.

In the bottom of the fourth, with two outs, the Knights broke up the tie when Casey Horbach tripled scoring Landon Guzowski. Horbach then scored on a pass ball to make the score 7-5

Jeffrey Nawojski Jr threw a complete game for the Knights. The starting pitcher allowed eight runs, most of them unearned, over seven innings, striking out four and walking three.

Matt Tulshi led the team with two hits in three at-bats. Horbach and Patronaggio were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in two runs for Cheektowaga. The Knights turned two double plays in the game.

The 16U Cheektowaga Knights next game is on Sunday 6/2 at 2pm at Beverly Hills against East Coast Pipeline.
