If you get a chance and are local to NJ/Philly area, consider attending a sound healing class with I did feel like I released some pent up energy and felt an increase in flow, intuition and centeredness today, feeling the benefits of a post deep meditative state. To me, these practices are not just a treat but fall into important practices of holistic health and prevention, which includes a focus on many important areas that include how we manage our mental and physical well-being. Getting centered, creating a pause and awareness helps us hear our own guidance and w**d through the clutter in our minds to heal and move through challenges into growth as well as improving quality of life.
In therapy, we often can say that we need to "feel to heal". This can be very hard because the brain and body try to protect us by sometimes sensing this as unsafe. We may need to just be aware of this as a protection and thank ourselves for looking out for you. Not working through healing can put us on repeat often unconsciously with similar cycles in our lives. We can step back and evaluate by just witnessing without judgement if we see patterns or feel like painful pieces from our past are holding us back. We can prepare the body and mind to enter the healing process through learned relaxation practices like body movement and embodying activities, focused breathing, mindfulness, meditation, progressive muscle relaxation, etc. There are many options that we can try to start this process working from the top down through our thinking and learning to manage our brain functions in a more beneficial way. We can connect the body and mind by working from the body up, using the body to send new messages. This can be challenging to do alone and is where we can perhaps consider gaining the assistance of a psychotherapist to help us on our own journey, going through it to get the life that is an entitlement and birthright.
How can we protect our mental health by detaching from those who trigger it? Here are some tips!
Do you often feel like you haven't done enough during the course of a day???
Remember to give yourself credit for all of the things you DID DO today, a lot that probably wasn't even on your list!
Whatever that looks like today, it is enough! Also try to remember quality over quantity because we can do things mindlessly and show up with our body for a long period of time and not be present and engaged. Sometimes we have less time than desired to spend but we are truly present, whether it's really feeling the excitement or curiousity of what appears to be a small moment, having a sense of gratitude even in a basic need fulfillment way, being attentive with someone going through a hard time or nurturing yourself for a few moments, etc.

Many things that I'll talk about on here, can often be areas that we never learned in our lives. Take comfort in the fact that it's not too late to learn.
Quick tips:
-The brain can be rewired to create new pathways, which you can learn to do.
-We tend to believe where we spend our time focusing (so try to focus on what's going well and personal strengths).
-Try an affirmation today. Put it on a sticky or as a reminder on your phone (example: I am resilient, I am strong, I am smart, I am good at..., I am learning, I am where I need to be).
