Congratulations to 8th grade Innovator, Ryann! Ryann's artwork has been selected for display at the Chesapeake Public Schools Secondary Spring Art Show at the Chesapeake Public Library. Her inspiration came from her experiences this past summer, when her family traveled to Santorini, Greece, and six other islands with other Jack and Jill of America families on the National Cultural Exchange Cruise. The impact of that experience has been profound, enriching her perspective and deeply influencing her artistic expression.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Here in the Charming Chesapeake Chapter of Jack and Jill of America we encourage you to intentionally take care of yourself. Our mental health is just as important as our physical health.

Last month, the Chesapeake Chapter and Virginia Cooperative Extension collaborated to bring the Reality Store and Market Place to Norfolk Public Schoolsβ Family University. The Reality Store and Market Place are real life simulations that teach financial planning, decision-making, and career choices to 3rd-12th grade students. The event attendees also enjoyed various instructional activities, guest speakers, and a Norview High School drum line performance! It was a fantastic opportunity to engage with the community and promote financial literacy. Special thanks to the Vanguard, our teens, and our Jacks and Jills from the Pathfinders and Innovators groups for volunteering and participating in this event for the community! ππππ
Caring for a child's mental health is crucial for their development. It involves reaching emotional milestones, learning healthy social skills, and developing coping skills when faced with challenges. Mental health significantly impacts a child's thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, as well as their ability to make positive choices.Β We can support and encourage our children's mental health through various strategies to aid their growth and development. π©·π
