Help Needed!

Our office needs a high-volume laser printer and copier. Unfortunately, the one we purchased has stopped working, and we rely heavily on it to support our daily operations. We would be extremely grateful if anyone could donate a printer or copier or knows of an organization willing to contribute!

Please reach out directly if you can help or have any leads.

Thank you for your support!

Did you know Rising Star Advocacy has been serving families at low cost or no cost for over a year! We partner with UPLIFT for Wyoming families to ensure the rights of families of children with disabilities are not compromised. We are actively seaking donors to help us with our cause. These donations will help with office space, office supplies, it will cover a families services, and it will help us grow. Our hope is to hire a part time secretary, but we cannot do that without funding first. Please consider donating or sharing!

Congratulations to our own Cari Glantz who received notification that she will again be our Wyoming Act Early Ambassador! She has spent significant time and effort building relationships and enhancing collaboration with the early childhood community and libraries to disseminate materials and encourage early screening.

Reflecting on the families I’ve served over the last three years, I’m thankful for the opportunity to serve children! I have become who I and so many of my generation needed as a child. The next generation, I promised I would protect at all costs. Thank you for letting me amplify your voice!!

Please help me continue to serve families and donate to Rising Star!

I am very excited about Speaking Next week at the Wyoming Governor's Council on Developmental Disabilities Conference

September 19th at 3:00-4:00 PM

This topic is very important to me. Both kids and adults are more than just their "Inclusion Minutes."

The presentation will cover the key aspects of vocational and transition planning in Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with developmental disabilities. It will address students' legal rights and educational entitlements under IDEA and Section 504, the importance of inclusive practices, and strategies for effective advocacy. Participants will gain valuable insights into the best approaches for creating transition plans that prepare students for post-secondary education, employment, and independent living while ensuring their inclusion in general education settings.

See you there!!

We are excited to be back in the office starting this week and to announce that Rising Star Advocacy is transitioning to a new business structure as a Low-Profit Limited Liability Company (L3C) under Wyoming state law!! We know we previously announced that we were looking for board members to help us move toward a nonprofit model. However, after thorough research, we have determined that the L3C option will allow us to meet the needs of our community more effectively while maintaining the flexibility we need to grow and serve.

An L3C is a hybrid between a nonprofit and a traditional for-profit company. It allows us to prioritize our mission of supporting families and advocating for access to education, while still operating as a for-profit entity. Unlike traditional LLCs, L3Cs are designed to attract investments from foundations and individuals who seek to fund social causes without compromising on sustainability.

What This Means for Rising Star Advocacy:

Mission-Driven Focus: Our mission of advocating for families and students remains at the forefront. We continue to ensure that schools comply with laws like IDEA and Section 504, providing students the education they deserve.

Accepting Donations: As an L3C, we are able to accept donations from those who share our vision. These contributions are vital for us to expand our services and help more families in need.

Growth Potential: This new structure allows us to pursue growth opportunities, including partnerships with socially responsible investors and foundations that are aligned with our goals.

By becoming an L3C, we ensure that Rising Star Advocacy can continue to grow and make a difference while being financially sustainable. We invite you to join us on this journey by considering a donation to help us reach more families and provide critical advocacy services.

Shifting to this model at the beginning of the school year will hopefully help us have great year serving families.

This picture shows a proud child in the right environment, receiving the support he needs. I'm thrilled to see him smile! For about a year, he was in a placement that didn't meet his needs; he felt sad and misunderstood. But we knew he could be successful with the right support. Here's to a great year ahead, kiddo. Remember, I'm always in your corner! ❤️ Permission from mom to share.

Always be mindful!!!

Special education students are entitled to start school at the same time as their general education peers. Shortening the school day just for the purpose of accommodating transportation department needs is not appropriate. All students should have a full day of school afforded to them.

Nine years ago, I began my journey as a parent with the Stride Learning Center when my child underwent evaluation. Little did I know that I would eventually collaborate with teams and develop training programs for staff members! It was such an honor to spend time with them this morning. Thank you to all the lovely participants!
