If your haircare acne-safe?

I have people asking me about hairline/forehead breakouts, or back/b***y/body breakouts (especially going into summer) and oftentimes, it can be the products we aren’t necessarily using ON our skin… a big culprit being haircare. I’ve tried so many drugstore and professional haircare lines and while there are a few winning products here and there, I have to say my all time favorite line has been 🩷🧡💛

The products all work so well for my color-treated hair, they smell amazing, and the best part is that they don’t make me break out 😌

Whatever you decide to use in your hair, make sure you’re checking the ingredients in your products for any potential irritants/pore cloggers! Many people are concerned with visible signs of aging on the face, but completely neglect their neck. Don’t NECKglect your neck!!! I always say to bring your facial products down to at least your collarbones (onto your chest is even better, but I won’t get greedy here.)

toners do more than just balance your skin’s pH! They are both parables-free, fragrance-free, and acne safe, and they both include a handful of skin loving, beneficial ingredients.

The Balancing Toner is alcohol-free, and contains humectants to hydrate, and cucumber and marshmallow root extract to soothe skin that is inflamed and/or itchy. It’s perfect for anywhere on the body (I like to use it on sunburn or after any kind of hair removal like shaving, waxing, or laser… it’s even better when it’s in the fridge and is cooling and refreshing!) It can be applied over or under makeup to hydrate and set your face makeup as well ☺️

The Purifying Toner is formulated specifically for oily or acne-prone skin with its sebaceous gland-regulating ingredients Salicylic Acid and Willow Bark, and it also kills bacteria and fungus, so it can be used on feet, gym equipment (such as helmets, yoga mats, and more!) or anywhere on the body you need a quick cleanse.

You’re gonna wanna keep these in your fridge, gym bag, makeup bag… really anywhere 😂

1. Milky Lotion Cleanser - this creamy, non-foaming cleanser is best for very dry or sensitive skin, as it gently lifts impurities without disrupting the skin barrier or causing any inflammation. It’s formulated with Apple and date fruit extract for their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties and will leave your skin feeling slightly moisturized! It’s amazing for compromised skin, burnt/damaged skin, or post-procedure skin.

2. Gentle Foaming Cleanser - this gentle cleanser lifts away makeup, dirt, and oil without disrupting the skin barrier and contains willow bark, a botanical source of salicylic acid with anti-inflammatory properties. It’s amazing for all skin types, morning and night!

3. Lytic Gel Cleanser - this refreshing antimicrobial cleanser is perfect for breakout prone or oily skin, as it kills bacteria and deeply clears pores without drying out the skin or stripping your barrier of its essential fatty acids. It contains willow bark, and marshmallow root to soothe skin and calm any redness as it clears pores. I also love this one as a body wash for body acne!

4. Purifying Wash - this Salicylic Acid Wash is formulated for acne prone skin to clear out pores, and regulate oil production, while preventing future blemishes from forming.

Do you get breakouts around your mouth/chin? Try switching to sulfate-free oral care, and always make sure you floss/brush/rinse BEFORE washing your face and applying skincare products. These are my favorite teeth-care products (non-sponsored) that do not contain sulfates. It is always so humbling to look back and remember WHY I do what I do… These were from December of 2021, when I was in esthetics school.

My skin was something I struggled with for so many years and I unfortunately allowed it to ruin so many events and memories because of how low my self confidence was. Looking back at old photos of my skin makes me so emotional because the feelings of helplessness, hopelessness, and frustration were so strong. I’d gone to doctors, dermatologists, & specialists collecting different prescriptions that just made my face hurt more and more until I just couldn’t do it anymore. No one was going to save my skin or my self confidence for me. I had to learn all I could and I had to understand WHY this was happening to me. I quit my job, went to esthetics school and over the past two years, I’ve devoured skincare knowledge every chance I got because everything changed for me when I was able to work on improving myself physically and mentally.

When I talk about or post about skincare, it’s not to sell someone a product or preach to you. It’s because I know firsthand how emotionally and physically painful it is to be ashamed of someone looking you in the face.
