A total solar eclipse will cross the United States on April 8, 2024 passing over Texas, and traveling through Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine.

It is crucial to use proper eye protecting when viewing a solar eclipse to prevent eye damage from harmful radiation.

There are specially designed glasses or viewers with solar filters that block out harmful UV, visible and infrared light. Ensure that your eclipse glasses are ISO 12312-2 certified, which indicates they are safe for direct viewing of the sun.

If you normally wear eyeglasses, wear your eclipse glasses / viewers over them.

Sunglasses, smoked glass, unfiltered telescopes or magnifiers, and polarizing filters are unsafe.

Remember, looking directly at the the sun even during an eclipse, can cause permanent eye damage or blindness. If you should experience discomfort or vision problems following the eclipse, visit your local doctor of optometry for a comprehensive eye examination.
