This weekend C*C's Sailing School enjoyed some friendly competition during its annual Opti & Laser Halloweekend Regatta 🎃

Thank you to everyone who joined us last night for our annual Women on the Water (WOW) Harvest Wine Dinner. Guests enjoyed wines from northern California California and the Pacific northwest region presented by Neiko Kirk from 🍷 and a four-course meal expertly paired to the wines by Chef Larry. The sold-out Safety at Sea Seminar that took place at Belmont this weekend was a success! Attendees learned a range of safety procedures for offshore sailing and got hands-on training that included crew overboard rescue, pyrotechnics and firefighting.

Women leaders and future leaders don't want to miss this luncheon and panel discussion. The topic: "Turning Your Passion into Profit." No racing today (day one) in Hyeres at the French Olympic Week. The race committee sent us out but the mistral winds were too strong and the fleet was sent in. We will try again tomorrow! We are scheduled for 4 races at 1030.

The Chicago Yacht Club and the Race to Mackinac are excited to announce a major new trophy for the Race. Chicago Yacht Club members Marijane and Peter Thornton have generously donated the Whitehawk Trophy, which will be presented to the overall corrected-time winner for the Cruising Division. The impressive trophy was built in 1877 by Stephen Smith for Smith & Son, London in 1877 and will provide the Cruising Division—the fastest-growing Division in the race—with a prize on par with the other major trophies awarded to our Racing Divisions. The trophy is named for Whitehawk, the Thorntons’ 105 foot yacht that competes regularly in the Race’s Cruising Division.

The Chicago Yacht Club has a new commodore, a woman — the first in the club’s 148-year history Lisa Curcio Gaston is also a retired Cook County judge.

Happy Monday! We are so proud of Stephanie Roble and Maggie Shea. They took 5th out of 60 FX teams at the Trofeo Princesa Sofia Regata in Palma Mallorca. They were the top U.S. team! Now, they're one step closer to qualifying for a spot at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
