Happy Independence Day from Cubed Construction! We wish a safe and happy holiday to everyone.
One year ago today, history was made when President Biden signed the executive order to make Juneteenth a federally recognized holiday. June 19th is a day of celebration that dates back to1865 when federal troops arrived in Galveston, TX to take control of the state and ensure that all enslaved people be free. Since then, Juneteenth has been honored and celebrated as the end of slavery in the United States. It took 155 years for Juneteenth to become recognized as a federal holiday. The grandmother of the movement, Opal Lee, was a key member and activist for getting Juneteenth recognized. In 2016, at 89 years old she walked from her home in Fort Worth, TX to Washington D.C. in hopes of it leading to Juneteenth being recognized. Five years later it happened. With Juneteenth's recent recognition as a federal holiday, cities across the country spend the day remembering the importance day in history. Chicago is one of those cities and offers plenty of family-friendly events and gatherings for people to celebrate.
Happy Pride Month from Cubed Construction! 🏳️🌈 We are an inclusive company that values diversity and we are committed to making our workplace an open and brave space for all identities. Pride is the celebration of the long history of LGBTQ+ dignity and the freedom of all people to meaningfully and proudly express their sexual and gender identities. There is no better place to celebrate than Chicago, which is home to some of the largest and well-known Pride events in the world! Some of the best ways to celebrate Pride are to attend Pride events, learn more about LGBTQ+ leaders in your community, and to support local LGBTQ+ owned businesses. Here are some of our favorites! 🌈
