She took time out of her vacation to watch Voice of Chicago perform that night. Her presence and the words she shared with our students was a true gift and one that created a memory that will last a lifetime. We’ll be cheering her on tonight, just like she cheered us on in 2017!

Uniting Voices Chicago is built on the belief that, through music, we can forge meaningful, empathetic connections with people from every background.
In June of 2024, Uniting Voices Chicago embarked on a tour of Mexico, with stops in Mexico City and Oaxaca. Sixty talented singers from Voice of Chicago performed in historic venues throughout the country, and participated in the world-renowned Festival Coral Infantil y Juvenil. We visited culturally significant sites like Teotihuacan and Monte Alban. We created lifelong friendships and made lasting memories with the young people of the cities we visited, including Coro Jääwën, Voces del Alma.
Thank you to Shure/Shure En Español/Representaciones de Audio for their support of this venture.
Today we're throwing it back to 2021 with Voice of Chicago's beautiful rendition of "Stop This Train," originally by John Mayer.

We're absolutely jazzed to be kicking off our program year in less than a month! Here's a groovy to "Sir Duke" at Paint the Town Red 2024, performed by the Englewood and Lincoln Park/DePaul Neighborhood Choir Programs.
Sir Duke was written in 1976 by Stevie Wonder and released on his legendary album "Songs in the Key of Life." Stevie wrote the song in honor of jazz legend Duke Ellington, who had recently passed away in 1974. In this musically infectious groove, Stevie Wonder pays homage to major pioneers in jazz.

From Boston to Lexington to Mexico City, our singers made lifelong friendships while on tour this year. Let’s celebrate all the unforgettable connections music can create for young people today on ! 🤝
Can you believe it? Only 1️⃣ month until the 2024-25 program year starts!
Thanks to our longtime friend Bongani Magatyana Music for visiting us all the way from Cape Town, South Africa! 🇿🇦
We've worked with Bongani, who is a composer, choir director and musician, for over a decade as a culture bearer to learn South African Choral Music. Yesterday, Bongani led a summer workshop to a diverse group made up of current singers from our Neighborhood Choirs and Voice of Chicago, conductors, alumni, Future Music Educators and visiting singers. He taught songs in Zulu and their accompanying choreography, including his original song Mandela. We can't wait to share what we've learned at some of our concerts this year!

Chicago Children’s Choir (Josephine Lee, President and Artistic Director) is a non-profit organization that inspires and unites youth from diverse backgrounds to become global citizens through music. Founded in Hyde Park in direct response to the Civil Rights Movement in 1956, CCC has grown from one choir into a vast network of in-school and after-school programs serving 5,200 students across the city of Chicago.
CCC has impacted the lives of more than 50,000 diverse youth throughout its 62-year history. Since its founding, CCC has focused on building programs that reflect the racial and economic diversity of Chicago. Eighty percent of youth served are from low-to-moderate income homes, with over 4,000 students annually participating completely free of charge. All singers in CCC programs receive some level of subsidy.
