My Grotesque Comforts explores the intersections of q***r identity and found specimens through the work of Ziccy Delamarter []. The artist delves into the darker, more surreal aspects of their q***r identity and bodily autonomy through illustrations of themself and the grotesque subjects they find. It is a deep and personal exploration of the artist’s desires and unique experiences with selfhood through a thought-provoking and visually striking collection of works.

Columbia College Chicago’s Glass Curtain Gallery is pleased to present The Black Glo-Liath and the Dark of the Sun, a solo exhibition of work by Allen Moore []]! Come celebrate the opening on Thursday, September 5, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., the artist will be present.
The Black Glo-Liath and the Dark of the Sun explores the interplay of Darkness and light, Identity, Grief and Defiance. Each piece resonates with a narrative of resilience and transformation, reflecting the experiences of the oppressed. Through deep introspection and material exploration, Moore’s body of work elevates the Black Imagination and the resistance of the unseen.

2024 Pougialis Fine Art Award Exhibition: Revival
June 13- September 26, 2024
Bibiana Saucedo's [] recent body of work is inspired by the passing of a close family member and personal struggles in the past years. Alongside these themes, she has begun to explore her culture, looking back at pictures and listening to her grandfather’s life, which inspired her to continue to reflect back further, even as far back as the Aztecs.

2024 Pougialis Fine Art Award Exhibition: Revival
June 13- September 26, 2024
Guthrie Paulson [] is an artist based in Chicago who creates work in response to feelings of existential anxiety. Guthrie practices to convey his own lived experience, while working to emphasize everyone’s unique perspective. His work consists of collage, found object installation, assemblage/mixed media sculpture, metal casting, and silversmithing. Guthrie earned his BA in Fine Arts at Columbia College Chicago in May 2024.

Borders Cruzadas is a long-term visual narrative project by photojournalists and 2023-2024 Dammeyer Fellows Oscar B. Castillo and Wil Sands. The 2023-2024 Dammeyer exhibition featuring Borders Cruzadas is a culmination of work that compiles documentary photography, research, and conversations to present both the physical and the symbolic boundaries that form America’s borders.
Borders Cruzadas is presented in collaboration with the Pueblo Unido Gallery (PUG) and Centro Romero. Castillo and Sands have work on view in a companion exhibition at Pueblo Unido Gallery. Both exhibitions are curated by PUG Co-Director and Chief Curator Abigail Winograd.

The 2024 Pougialis Award Exhibition: Revival invites viewers to reconsider the overlooked beauty of the mundane while also reflecting on significant life events and memories. Through a diverse array of mediums including painting, collage, sculpture, and found object assemblage, the exhibition breathes new life into discarded items that often go unnoticed. From broken glass and rusted scrap parts to imagery of familiar objects, Saucedo and Paulson recontextualize these everyday artifacts, offering a fresh perspective on their inherent charm and resilience. With Revival, the artists aim to evoke a sense of appreciation for the overlooked treasures of daily life and memories they may hold.
Bibiana Saucedo and Guthrie Paulson are recipients of the 2023 Pougialis Fine Art Award which is a yearly competition sponsored by the Art and Design Department that offers promising fine art students at Columbia College Chicago an opportunity to study as an apprentice with an established artist of national and international standing for one semester, a cash award, and a two-person exhibition.
