Here we have a rare gem: the Musser Ampliceleste! 💎💎
A marvel of 1960s engineering, this instrument combines vibraphone style bars with a piano style hammer action produced by Pratt Reed. Amplified through a pickup system and a giant electro-voice speaker, this unique keyboard is a perfect middle ground between celeste and electric piano.

Walnut Clavinet D6 build for Page McConnell 🎏

In addition to our top shelf electronic and mechanical overhaul, we made a bespoke black walnut case with matching legs! We love how the highly figured panels and finger joints came together on this one. The laser etched “Hohner” emblem ties it all together. Video and blog post coming soon!

This Clavinet will be in good company as a part of the Phish keys rig. You know where to look: Page side Rage side.

ARP appreciation post ⚡️🎹⚡️

Pictured here:
Rhodes Electronic Piano, ARP Solina String Ensemble, ARP Pro Soloist, ARP Odyssey, ARP Axxe, and Octave the Cat.

In the early 1980s, the future of both the Rhodes and ARP brands were uncertain. Now under the ownership of the CBS corporation, there were a couple ARP designed instruments released under the Rhodes name, including the “Electronic Piano” pictured here (as well as the Rhodes Chroma synth). It should be noted that Harold Rhodes opposed this rebranding as he thought (rightfully so) that it diluted the legacy of the Rhodes piano.
“The Cat” is a synth produced by Octave and is included in this set because it is so similar to the Odyssey design that the company was sued by ARP in the 70s.

Regardless of the tumultuous history, we here at CEPCo have grown fond of these instruments and have a strong appreciation for this era of analog synthesizers!

🌌 ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ with our latest custom “Death Star” inspired Yamaha CP-80! 🌌

💥 The CP-80 was Yamaha’s flagship portable stage piano of the late 70’s and early 80’s, boasting a full 88 key register, stereo tremolo, onboard effects loop and 3-band EQ. We gave this one a complete mechanical and electronic overhaul, then built custom smoked plexiglass top and bottom panels for a magical translucent visual experience. 💥

Additionally, we built a matching plexiglass music rack, and fitted the piano with new repro legs & crossbars. The result is a piano fit for Darth Vader’s penthouse. 🚀🛸

The Farfisa Professional 222 🤩
One of the most advanced combos of its time, the Professional series was released in the late 60s and features a bevy of percussion, sustain, vibrato and voice filtering options! AND it can tilt backwards for upright performance ergonomics (as demonstrated by on the last slide).
Check out our 4.20 post to hear this bad boy in action.

It’s an accordion! It’s a synth! It’s a combo organ! It’s…the SUPER-SYNTHACCORDION. From the singular minds of Farfisa came this polka powerhouse, arming the discerning accordionist with not only a fine reed instrument, but also the leading tone shaping technology of the late 70s including:
- mono and poly synth settings
- organ and flute footages
- strings, brass, reed, percussion, vibes, marimba and piano sounds

How does such sorcery work, you may ask? Well, stay tuned for an in depth presentation by our own Krazy Keegan, demonstrating all the quirks and features of this truly unique accordion.

🍎📝 1975 Wurlitzer 207VA with Keynote Visualizer. This handy teacher’s tool is a lightbulb filled whiteboard on wheels, allowing a teacher control of a whole network of Wurlitzers at their fingertips.

The onboard switching allows a teacher communication ability with 6 different pianists at the flip of a switch, as well as ability to mute or amplify any of those keyboards.

The visualizer itself has tiny metal tabs below each key’s action whip, allowing a physical switch to engage lightbulbs in the visualizer corresponding to the notes being played.

Beyond the cool unique features of this Wurlitzer, we left no stone unturned overhauling this piano. It plays and sounds like a dream now, and videos will follow!

It’s now headed south to Austin, Texas to funkify the lone star state alongside one of our customized Wurlitzer 140B’s.
