Help us end period poverty! TCA Health is working to provide period, puberty, and hygiene packs to youth and teens in need. You can help us by donating:

❓ What is period poverty?
Period poverty is a term used to describe a lack of access to proper menstrual products and the education needed to use them effectively.

❓Why is it important to support youth with puberty and period hygiene products?
Our goal is to ensure that every teen who menstruates can feel comfortable and confident in their environment and support them with comprehensive s*xual and reproductive health.
In addition to this, puberty, period, and overall hygiene items can be expensive for teens to purchase, especially as they learn what works for their changing bodies. Youth in Chicago have higher rates of poverty compared to both the US as a whole and the state of Illinois. They need support on their journey to adulthood and we're here to show them that TCA C.A.R.E.S. 💙

The WHO Council on the Economics of Health for All has found that at least 140 countries recognize health as a human right in their constitution. Yet at least 4.5 billion people — more than half of the world’s population — were not fully covered by essential health services in 2021.

The theme for World Health Day 2024 was 'My health, my right’.

We champion the right of everyone, everywhere to have access to quality health services, education, and information, as well as safe drinking water, clean air, good nutrition, quality housing, decent working and environmental conditions, and freedom from discrimination.

As we celebrate National Public Health Week, we realize that public health extends far beyond healthcare. Community Health Centers adopt a multidisciplinary team approach to extend their impact beyond the confines of the examination room. We actively tackle the social determinants that profoundly influence health and well-being, including access to nutritious food, clean water, and the overall living, working, and recreational environments.

Today’s theme focuses on Climate Change and how as the climate crisis intensifies, Community Health Centers are stepping up to address its impact on public. By promoting clean energy, green spaces, and resilience measures, we are not just safeguarding health today but also for generations to come.
