ANCESTOR’S DAY
_
The crimson sky and falling leaves signals cooler weather is ahead. And this time of year, we celebrate the most important holiday in Khmer culture. Families from all over would ភ្ជុំPchum, or gather together, to visit the temples and pay respect to ancestors. It is believed that the gates of the underworld are opened, releasing ghosts who have not made their transition to the afterlife. Their spirits are fractured so merits are offered, traditionally in the form of rice balls, to make them come together and be whole again, បិណ្ឌBen.
_
For our Fall / Winter Menu, we are celebrating the grain that connects us with our neighbors who celebrate Ancestors’ Day with dishes that has rice as the important role in its preparation. Beginning with our beloved Nom Banchok, a lightly fermented rice noodle, is the vessel for Somhlor Khmer. A floral kreung broth is accompanied with roasted fish, herbs, and a little heat. Continuing with a dish from our Thai neighbors celebrating Sat Thai, we have Laab. Toasted rice is the key ingredient that gives the signature crunch complementing bright lime, fiery Thai chili, and a ton of mint. And for our friends from Vietnam celebrating Tết Trung Nguyên, we are preparing Bánh Cuốn. The lightest of rice paper skin coats your preferred filling. I think scallops would great. But we will happily accommodate dietary strictions per usual.

October and November reservations are live. The abbreviated Family Meal menu is $125.00 per person. Our private dining experience is $1395.00 for 1-8 Guests, and each additional guest for a max of 14 is $165.00. A 20% service charge and tax is in addition. Wednesday, September 18th is National Cheeseburger Day. So when friends from asked us to participate in a party this past weekend, the timing couldn’t have been more perfect.
_
A great burger should start with an excellent patty. Ours are grass-fed from a small regenerative 20 acres family-farm in Wisconsin. Coupled with Chihuahua cheese, garlic mayo, and served between a buttery brioche bun, the Cheeseburger is simple and solid.
- OR -
Upgrade to a style with the addition of Kroueng, prahok, onions, and Cambodian pickles. Chips and a drink to complete.

BANH SOONG
_
We are excited to be back this Monday, 09/09 for Family Meal Monday! And we’re taking advantage of the remaining summer weather with a family favorite noodle salad, Banh Soong.
_
A creamy coconut, scallion, and fish-sauce sauce seasons rice vermicelli noodles. Normally the protein is pork and shrimp, but we are grilling our Kroueng marinaded chicken instead. Per usual, a ton of herbs dress the plate… plus the cutest little egg roll to nosh. A vegetarian version will be available for our friends.

5:00pm until sold out!

I couldn’t be more excited about tonight. Two separate parties. A party of 4 followed by a party of 9.

I often get asked how did we do it. Consistency. Tenacity. And keep on trekking. We don’t give excuses, like my serotonin level is low and can’t come to work kind of bull crap.
I am looking forward to continuing this journey with you all!

Above anything else, I treasure the privacy of my guests, and unless greenlighted, I keep it anonymous. However, we received the kindest message from acclaimed fellow Khmer artist, Poet Monica Sok who recently interviewed me on a piece for PBS. With her grace, I would like to share. Monica’s piece can be found below.
