CHIL CEO Susan Reyna-Guerrero joined Steve Dale on WGN Radio to discuss the worrying trend of LGBTQ+ youth being disproportionately represented among youth facing homelessness. Did you know that LGBTQ+ youth are 120% more likely to experience homelessness than their non-LGTBQ+ peers? That's why safe spaces like CHIL are so crucial in the fight to end the cycle of youth homelessness. We are thrilled to announce the official opening of our new Transitional Living Program: Rights of Passage (ROP)! This milestone marks the completion of the Campaign for Youth Potential, a $12 million fundraising initiative that enabled us to purchase and beautifully renovate our 3-story building in East Garfield Park. With the addition of ROP, we now have the capacity to provide shelter and wrapround supports to 56 young people and, with our slate of comprehensive, trauma-informed, tailored services, the ability to help hundreds more achieve their goals and permanently overcome homelessness.
