At last month's GBCAC meeting, we watched a CPS webinar together as a community. We voiced our concerns and heard from a few school board candidates.
This month, we are thrilled to welcome Robert (Bob) Runcie, former CPS Chief Administrative Officer and current CEO of Chiefs for Change, who designed and created the CACs. He will share his insights on CACs, community engagement, and their enduring significance in our communities today.
Community Action Councils empower residents, foster collaboration, and address local issues effectively. They drive positive change and ensure our voices are heard.
Long Covid isn't just a buzzword, it's a silent battle affecting many in our community. Understanding it is crucial. Let's stand together, educate ourselves, and support those with Long Covid.
I STARTED CLASS TODAY! Extremely excited. Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other. Smart leaders know what they don't know. Learning is a constant process throughout your professional life, and it doesn't stop when you've become a team leader.
To better lead Bright Star Church, .JamesMinistriesChicagoCOGIC, Bright Star Community Outreach, Inc. (BSCO),
LEADERS, YOUR JOURNEY IS TOUGH BUT ESSENTIAL.
For pastors, CEOs, and leaders, the path is often fraught with challenges that test your resolve and commitment. In moments when the weight of responsibilities feels overwhelming and the temptation to give up looms large, remember that true leadership is not about reaching a final destination, but about the relentless pursuit of a vision.
As pastors, you are shepherding souls, offering hope, and guiding your congregation through life’s trials. Your purpose is divine, and every sermon, every prayer, is a step toward fulfilling your calling. When faced with obstacles, lean on your faith and the knowledge that your perseverance is a beacon of hope for others.
As CEOs, you are at the helm of innovation, steering your organization through turbulent markets and competitive landscapes. Your decisions shape futures and create opportunities. When setbacks occur, see them as valuable lessons and stepping stones. Your ability to adapt and press forward is what sets your company apart and drives success.
As leaders in any capacity, your journey is a testament to resilience and determination. Each victory is but a milestone, and each failure a lesson in disguise. Your steadfastness in the face of adversity not only propels you forward but also inspires those who look to you for guidance.
Keep going. Your dedication, courage, and unwavering spirit are the true marks of leadership. It is in the persistence that pastors nurture faith, CEOs drive innovation, and leaders build legacies. Your commitment to your purpose will leave an indelible impact on the lives you touch and the worlds you shape. Pastor Chris Harris, Sr.

BSCO - General Overview
History: Bright Star Community Outreach (BSCO) was founded in 2009 by Pastor Christopher Harris, in response to the need to address the systemic problems impacting Bronzeville. He believed the Church should take on a more active role in resolving the community’s largest challenges: violence in our communities, poor economic opportunities, inadequate mental health services, homelessness, child safety, and drug abuse.
Mission: BSCO’s mission is to empower residents to share in the responsibility of building community through resource development and collaborative partnerships.
We will accomplish our mission by developing innovative performance-based practices and programs to address the need for Violence Prevention, Community Engagement, Economic Development, Education, Healthy Children/Youth and Families.
