Chicago, IL – Adopt Kitten BFFs – Mica and Kit
Kit is a gorgeous, sweet, playful, and fun hazel-eyed, three-pound, three-month-old brown tabby kitten looking for a loving guardian along with his BFF Mica, a three-pound, three-month-old black kitten.
These boys were rescued from similar situations on different sides of the city of Chicago. They came together in a foster home for Friends of Petraits Rescue and bonded!
While they get along with all cats, it would be great to find a family to adopt both boys. They are adorable together. They play, snuggle and crash on one another.
Both kittens are well-socialized, use their litter boxes and scratching posts. They love all toys including the kitten ball pit!
Kit and Mica are very healthy, dewormed, neutered, virus-tested negative, microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies and distemper.

Chicago, IL – Adopt Zoe the Sweet Mature Doberman Pinscher
Zoe is a happy, affectionate, sweet and beautiful, nine-year-old, 74-pound, purebred female Doberman Pinscher with natural ears and a cropped tail looking for a loving guardian. Zoe will turn ten years old on September 28th.
Zoe is a gentle and wonderful girl with people of all ages and she loves children. She gets along beautifully with other dogs (although she can be barky from across the street).
When I walk her in my neighborhood, I’m surprised at how many people come over to pet her. She exudes kindness and a gentle nature.
She also has a strong prey drive and can sniff out bunnies, rats, and squirrels everywhere she goes!
Zoe was adopted six years ago to a mature Doberman-loving couple. Sadly, her human dad died, and her mom is now in the hospital. So, Zoe needs to find another home to enjoy her golden years. They loved her and spoiled her. She’s gained 10 pounds in six years and her favorite treat, (and perhaps theirs?) was nutterbutter cookies.
When she was younger, she dug holes and hunted in my yard. Now, I take her for walks which she loves. She is housebroken and well-mannered in the home. She loves to curl up on the couch or in bed with her humans. She enjoys a game of ball or chewing on her toys. She's not a retriever, so don't expect her to bring a ball back! She has lived as an indoor, much-loved and pampered dog all her life.
I originally took her into the rescue in October of 2018 when her family moved to a no-pets apartment. She loves a house with a yard, but she walks just fine on leash. However, she can be strong and stubborn at times.
She is healthy, spayed, vaccinated, micro-chipped, heartworm-tested and on monthly preventative. Her adoption fee of $175 benefits the rescued pets of Friends of Petraits Rescue.
If you are interested in meeting and possibly adopting oey, please fill in an adoption application at https://friendsofpetraits.com/dog-adoption-application/ and follow up by contacting [email protected] to make an appointment to meet her. She is being fostered in Chicago's Andersonville neighborhood.
Anyone know of a 2 or 3 bedroom apartment in the Mount Prospect area that will allow cats - max $2200?

Chicago, IL – Adopt Bandit the Long-Haired Chi/Papillion-Mix Puppy
Bandit is an utterly adorable three-month-old, six-pound, long-haired chihuahua/papillion-mix puppy looking for a loving guardian.
Bandit is happiest next to his human, on their lap, and in their arms. He’s learning all sorts of things in his foster home like walking nicely on leash, housebreaking and even how to sit on command. He’s looking forward to learning more and will do anything for a piece of rotisserie chicken (his favorite treat).
Bandit is great with other dogs, but is excited when he sees cats, and enjoys barking at them. I’m not sure if that will change in time with more exposure and training.
Bandit is extremely healthy, neutered, de-wormed, vaccinated for distemper and bordetella, and microchipped.
His adoption fee of $375 benefits the Friends of Petraits Rescue. To meet and possibly adopt him, please fill out an adoption application at https://friendsofpetraits.com/dog-adoption-application/ and follow up to meet him by e-mailing [email protected]

Chicago, IL – Adopt Nina Beans the Loyal and Loving Pit-Mix
Nina is a beautiful, smart and loyal, three-year-old, 45-pound, grey brindle pit bull terrier-mix looking for a loving guardian. She has an odd growth on her forehead reminiscent of a Star Trek Klingon. That feature along with her engaging personality has allowed her to gain a large fan base.
She loves runs, walks, training (with her favorite treats, of course), agility, snuggling, and being the center of attention.
Nina has been living in a board and train facility for about nine months, and by now she’s received her PhD!
She can sometimes be overwhelmed outside her familiar world, but training is included at no additional fee with her adoption, so we can help you help her to adjust!
While not necessary, she sure would love a backyard to play tug and fetch. She’s not a dog park or doggie daycare kind of gal.
She’s a fan of pack walks and does best with dogs who are larger than herself. Although she’s looking for a home as the one and only pet in your world.
She can be pushy at times, so she’s looking for a strong leader who can help guide and manage her desires. She just wants a loving family (no kids please, their high voices and fast movements over-stimulate her).
When she’s found her person and settled down, she’s snuggly, well-behaved in the home, housebroken and crate-trained.
She knows the commands: Sit, Down, Stay, “Right Here” (Heel on left side), “This Way” (Turning), Place (on cot/bed/couch).
To meet and possibly adopt Nina Beans, please fill out the adoption application at https://friendsofpetraits.com/dog-adoption-application/ and follow up to meet her by e-mailing [email protected]
Nina Beans was previously adopted from Chicago Animal Care and Control and participated in the Safe Humane’s Lifetime Bonds program. Sadly, due to no fault of her own, the family couldn’t keep her for life, and she’s been in board and train ever since.
Nina Beans is healthy, spayed, vaccinated for rabies and distemper, microchipped, heartworm-tested and on preventative.
Her adoption fee of $175 benefits the Friends of Petraits Rescue.

Chicago, IL – Adopt Toby the Special One-Eyed Long Haired Chi-Weenie-Mix
Toby is a sweet cuddlebug of an eight-year-old, 10-pound, long-haired dachshund/chihuahua mix looking for a loving guardian.
Toby is happiest next to his human, or on their lap. He’s looking for folks who are home more than not as he’ll bark incessantly when you leave. So, he’s not an apartment or condo kind of dog.
If he’s home with you, Toby is relaxed and loves to nap the day away, with short periods of play and walks. He’s fine with dog and cat friends.
Although he only has a few teeth left, he is food-motivated, and loves his treats, although he’s shown little interest in toys besides a favorite Squishmallows.
Toby is crate-trained, and sometimes wears a pee-pad in the house for occasional leakage.
Toby has had bouts of pancreatitis, so he eats prescription ZD food mixed with fresh foods.
While he barks at other dogs at first, he usually gets along with them after hu***ng them a time or two. Toby’s good in the car, and good on leashed walks.
Toby is otherwise healthy, neutered, vaccinated for rabies and distemper, and microchipped.
His adoption fee of $175 benefits the Friends of Petraits Rescue. To meet and possibly adopt him, please fill out an adoption application at https://friendsofpetraits.com/dog-adoption-application/ and follow up to meet him by e-mailing [email protected]

That was back in March. She is now completely healed physically, and thanks to her amazing foster family, she has healed mentally too. She was very frightened and untrusting when she came into rescue. Since she’s been on fluoxetine (generic Prozac) for a little over a month and it’s helped her relax enough to enjoy the company of other cats, dogs and all the people she meets.
