Our Counseling Program is offering its first counseling group this Fall! Join CWHC Counselors for a 10-week therapeutic skills group focused on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). This group aims to help participants develop psychological flexibility and love more mindfully.

This opportunity will take place on Monday evenings from 6pm to 7:30pm each week from October 7th through December 9th. Sessions will be held virtually via Zoom.

The group will consist of two cofacilitators and up to 10 group members. Group members must be 18+ and can be new or returning clients. Participants can pay using insurance or our sliding scale from $60 - $15.

Tonight is the last session of our first Aligning Voice with Identity Series! Participants are encouraged to join for any number of sessions at no cost.

Session 4, taking place this coming Monday evening, will focus on "Communicating Under Duress." Participants will engage with the following learning objectives:

-Discover the vocal habits that sabotage us when we’re not feeling safe or self-confident.
-Develop and integrate vocal and breathing tools to help counterbalance those moments of insecurity.
-Walk away with a daily/weekly practice

Today, we’re sharing a patient testimony from Chicago Women’s Health Center! They’ve seen significant growth in CWHC’s mental health services and trans health services. This expansion will benefit not only current clients but also women and trans individuals who access these services for years to come. We are incredibly grateful for everyone at CWHC and for all their hard work and continued support!

Are you interested in accessing CWHC's Trans Health Services? We are accepting new clients! Clients with insurance, without insurance, and using self-pay are all welcome.

CWHC’s Trans Health Program offers the following services:
-Gender-affirming voice coaching
-Gender-affirming hormone therapy
-Letters of support for gender-affirming care/surgeries
-Injection tutorials

We also provide trans-inclusive gynecology services! We are currently accepting clients, return and new, for gynecology services.

Join CWHC Health Educators to discuss all things menopause on Saturday, September 7th, from 9:30am-12pm Central! During this 2.5-hour workshop held online, we'll focus on:

-The impact of menopause on bodies, minds, and relationships
-Research throughout history
-Challenging misinformation and considering treatment options
-Both self-care and community care

August 14th is Wear Blue Day to celebrate the work of Free and Charitable Clinics across Illinois.

Each year, CWHC and fellow Illinois FCCs provide care for over 48,000 people. We save the state over $35 million by helping uninsured and underinsured people avoid trips to an emergency department.

We are proud to do this work in such innovative and dedicated company, and we are grateful for the partnership of the Illinois Association of Free and Charitable Clinics.

CWHC is excited to announce our partnership with Jennifer M Huelskamp, MS, CNS, LDN, a Certified Nutrition Specialist. Beginning later this month, Jennifer will offer one-on-one sessions for clients who are looking for help developing a more positive relationship with food. Jennifer works from a fat positive, Health at Every Size, trans-inclusive perspective.

Jennifer's first appointments will be available on Tuesday, August 26th.

We are almost 2 months out from race day! Team CWHC is inching closer to the finish line. We are so thrilled to be supporting our largest marathon team to date as they dedicate their marathon journey to raising funds to support CWHC.

This 4-part series will be led by our Gender-Affirming Voice Coach, JP, and take place on Monday evenings from 7pm to 8pm CT. Each session will cover different tools and experiences related to developing a speaking voice that better aligns with a person’s identity.

Session 2: Pitch Modulation
Session 3: Vocal Obstacles from HRT
Session 4: Communicating Under Duress

This series will be held online. The 4-part training is offered on a sliding scale of $160-$0 per person. No one will be turned away based on their ability to pay.

CWHC's Counseling Program provides zero-cost letters of support for gender-affirming surgery / gender-affirming care. If your gender-affirming care provider requires a letter of support from a mental health professional, you can meet with one of our counselors and receive a letter of support for free. Your counselor will write the letter during the session with you, and you will be able to give feedback on the language used to refer to you and your experience.

Regardless of whether or not you have insurance, and even if you are not a current client with us, this service will always be completely free of charge.
