I was just at Home Depot on Addison and Kimball. Lots of stuff on sale. Lots of inventory too.
Good night from Lakeside MI
I caught my office worker Angie napping at her desk AGAIN! What should I do with her??
I messed up the previous post. Here are pictures of the colorful perennials we planted yesterday.
We cleaned up the existing planting bed, added 2 variegated Weigela ‘My Monet’ and added stepping stones to the side gate.
We re-set the customers stepping stones with bluestone chips on each side. We added a lot of colorful perennials to this garden.
This homeowner wanted to update her paver patio. We cut a 3” space between the pavers and added artificial turf. Totally modern look at a very low cost!
These clients wanted to do something totally different with their park way on a somewhat busy street. They supplied a few “inspiration” pictures and we took it from there. Parkways are notoriously difficult locations to landscape. Poor soil, tree roots, dog and human traffic and road salt all add to the challenges. We put just a few grasses in the parkway.
This is a raised planting bed and weeping redbud tree that we put in 2 years ago. I’m happy to report that the tree looks great! .
We removed the sidewalk on the left to create a larger front yard. We brought in Garden Mix to give us a better planting environment and planted a variety of beautiful plants. We installed stepping stones and planted a
Before and after in Portage park.
I caught my newest employee Angie napping on the job. I should fire her right away but she’s so darn cute she really does add a little “something” to the office.
A few more pictures.
More pictures from the Edison Park project.
Before and after in Galewood Chicago. We removed one of the Rose of Sharon shrubs and added a Japanese maple, three ‘Firelight’ panicle hydrangeas and lots of colorful perennials. I can’t wait to see it in bloom!
We’re getting ready to plant these beautiful ‘Firelight’ panicle hydrangeas.
These are really bad pictures. Sorry about this. Dappled sunlight is the worst! I’ll go back on an overcast day and take better “after” pictures. For those of you who like looking at hand drawn designs, look at this one. We re-laid the client’s clay pavers and made this beautifully designed space for her family to enjoy. We planted a lilac bush, spirea, knock out roses, three hydrangea ‘firelight’ and lots of pollinator friendly perennials.
We just got our plant delivery from and these fabulous ‘Firelight’ hydrangeas are part of our order. I can’t wait to plant these beauties!
Before and after in Norwood Park. We added soil and reshaped this planting bed. We added simple pollinator attracting perennials to the planting bed. We divided and transplanted the client’s beautiful hostas.
Before and after in Avondale. We built a wooden retaining wall, removed some of the old soil, added Garden Mix and a nice selection of shade tolerant perennials.
If you like looking at hand drawn designs…
Before and after in old Irving park. We made a Brussels Dimensional curved retaining wall, added soil and some colorful leafed perennials to the planting bed. All neat and tidy now.
We cleaned up this small planting bed, added new soil, planted a Japanese maple, aralia sun king, nepeta and divided and replanted the clients hostas as a border.
Before and after in Wrigleyville. We removed 2 old overgrown trees, replaced a rotten wood retaining wall with a natural cut limestone wall, planted a Japanese maple, oak leaf hydrangea, Annabelle hydrangea, boxwoods and a few red leaf heucheras. We divided and transplanted the existing hostas to use as fillers. We filled in along the walkway with bluestone chips. So neat and tidy now.
We installed a small flagstone patio in this front yard in Lakeview. Now the clients can sit outside and watch their kids playing.
Before and after in old Irving Park. We planted a Magnolia tree, some ‘blushing’ knock out roses, an arborvitae, a clethra ‘Ruby Spice’ and a lot of colorful perennials.
I’m going to go back and take better “after” pictures. But quite a transformation. We didn’t do the turf or the concrete but we did all the planting.
In 2 weeks. Come and see the beautiful gardens in Old Irving Park.
