We're excited to host a Music Theory Workshop at South Side Hackerspace June 15th from 2-4:30 PM. Whether you joined us last time or are new to our sessions, everyone is welcome!

All you need is curiosity and a set of ears! We'll dive into sound and frequency (pitch), intervals, scales, harmony, and classical music dissection with sheet music and performances.

A huge thank you to Pumping Station: One & Gearhead Workspace for encouraging South Side Hackerspace to build a kart! We made some fantastic new friends and truly appreciated all the support our racing crew, "Hack City Hustlers," received on race day.

A special shoutout to Robot Civil War and Q***r Country Bandwagon for their incredible live performances 🎸, and to all the talented local artists and makers, who showcased their creations & robots!

This Saturday! Get ready Chicago Makes! DIY Faire. An awesome ✨free✨ family-friendly fun event featuring DIY electric kart races and robot battles 🏎️ Join us on May 4th from 10am to 6pm at Guaranteed Rate Field, Lot C.

🤖 Watch homemade robots battling it out in the combot robotics arena, and cheer on the racers in DIY electric karts zooming around the track.

Our recent Machine Sewing workshop was a fantastic start to 2024, and we're thrilled to have had instructor & artist Josephina 👼join us! Participants not only became familiar with sewing machines but also left with a self-sewn, stylish pouch in hand. 🌟

If your New Year's resolution involves learning new skills and staying curious, we've got you covered! If you've got a sewing machine gathering dust and you're unsure where to start, our upcoming sewing class on Saturday, Feb 3rd, is perfect for you.

Our classes are sliding scale donation-based, ranging from $15-$25, Rest assured, all proceeds directly support our dedicated instructors.

Our 3rd Friday Open studio was last week and we're still finding fur 😂 Community folx came by the space to get ready for MFF! Every 3rd Friday we have an open studio for you to work on your projects, get feedback, use our sewing machines, vinyl & laser cuter + more. Feel free to come by just to hang out and be inspired too. We always have extra paint and supplies ready. See ya next month Dec 15th ☝️

Join us at 11:00am Central for a live stream of the October 14, 2023 Annular Solar Eclipse (11:28am Central), brought to you by the SouthSide Hackerspace: Chicago (SSH:C) and Nationwide Eclipse Ballooning Project (NEBP). Today we will be launching a weather balloon, scientific equipment, and cameras into the stratosphere to observe and record the Annular Solar Eclipse.

During the live stream, we'll share live views from two onboard 180-degree cameras, showcasing 360-degree wonders of the upper atmosphere. Please note that intermittent signal loss to the camera system may occur, but we're dedicated to maintaining a stable connection. Additional video from an onboard 360-degree camera will be available on our channel after the balloon's payload returns to Earth and is retrieved.

The Stick Up! Chicago is coming to the Southside Hackerspace on Thursday, March 30th, from 6pm to 9pm. Join us to hand-draw some stickers and check out our space. All skill levels are welcome, and admission is free. Big thanks to and SSHC member for putting this event together, as well as for creating this awesome flier.
