: The Tuskegee Airmen overcome segregation and prejudice to become one of the most highly respected fighter groups of WWII.

Prior to 1940, African Americans were prohibited from flying for the U.S. Military. Even in light of extreme racism, African Americans fought to defend their country, which led to the formation of an all African-American pursuit squadron based in Tuskegee, Alabama, in 1941.

The 's dedication to defending the freedom of all Americans and their acts of heroism paved the way for full integration of the U.S. military.

Congratulations to the newest single engine seaplane pilot in the Younkin Airshow family, Jimmy Beckford! He just completed his rating, joining Matt, Kristi, and over a dozen of our airshow friends and family members on a fun-filled winter retreat of flying at Jack Brown's Seaplane Base. If you have ever considered getting your rating, or just brushing up, we highly recommend it!! We’re having a fantastic time, and the week of fun is just getting started!

“Oh? You said you needed to see my driver’s license… sorry, I thought you said my private pilot license, I’m kind of a big deal.” – These are the words of someone with a million awesome points, and that someone today is Dayna Eder! Dayna Eder, GBA’s prime-time doughnut consumer, is officially a certified private pilot! Coming down from Truckee, flying nearly five days a week, and being an influential member of WAI’s Sierra Battle Born chapter, this inspiring aviatrix has worked diligently over the last couple of months to reach this point, and now she can finally flaunt that certificate everywhere she goes! It's incredible to see the progression towards private pilot, and that’s why we give our biggest congratulations to Dayna Eder and her instructor, Kurtis Hornung, on reaching this extraordinary milestone! Let’s keep chasing this dream and enjoy that box of doughnuts 😉

One fellow told Delmar at an airshow, "You know this thing isn´t going to fly". Delmar asked, "How can you walk by the Stealth Fighter and then come over here and tell me this won´t fly?"

Today the book closed on what might have been one of the most amazing bombers in the world had events unfolded differently. It was in 1969 that the North American Aviation XB-70 Valkyrie made its very last flight. NASA Research Test Pilot Lt Col (USAF Ret) Fitz Fulton and Lt Col Emil Sturmthal (USAF) flew the Valkyrie from Edwards Air Force Base in California to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio. On arrival, Fulton closed out the logbook and handed it over to the curator of the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. Have you ever been to the museum? Do you have a photo of the Valkyrie on display there?
