Owner, Tommy Wang, grew up eating his parents’ cooking, not only at home but at their family’s restaurant, Tien Tsin. He fell in love with the dynamic flavors of his father, Eugene's, cooking and used that as a standard for all food his entire life. A message from our owner, Jeff Wang:
It's been quite the month trying to get everything sorted out from our kitchen fire. But, at last, I have a clearer picture.
I’ve decided to close MAK.
I struggled with this decision because it felt like failure. However, this has not been a failure. Not in the slightest bit. These have been some of the best years of my life and I am grateful for this opportunity to serve the community that I love. I have met so many amazing people that will be a part of my life forever, and have learned so many things that have made me a better person. If anything, I see this as the end of one chapter and beginning of the next.
No business is meant to last forever, and we've defied the odds by being open for 11+ years. That wouldn’t have been possible without YOU! Thank you to the entire Wicker Park community for welcoming us in 2013 and supporting us through the years!
